Lets see ... Burke tampered and was on his way to the Sedins hometown last time around with an offer that was higher than the canucks and they ended up signing with the canucks ... for less ... and then quickly gave away $1.5 million dollars to BC Childrens Hospital

what swede leaves a city for dollars? (other than Sundin AFTER Toronto didnt want him anymore) I see them signing probably 1 to 2 year deals each to stay in vancouver FOR LESS ... yes i said it ... they will take the HOMETOWN DISCOUNT ... like so many other have before lol

bringing up that the canucks have a future cap hit liability coming in the WHEN Luongo retires is just a dumb red herring ... how many years away is that? ... and how much higher will the overall salary cap be by then>???

the script is pretty clearcut for Gillis ... if they cant be traded for spare jock straps ... buyout Booth ... buyout Ballard ... give Luongo away

I don't doubt the Sedins will take the Vancouver discount. However, do you believe they will take less than 6.1M or will they expect at least 7M per? I think 7M per would be a discount for the Sedins.

Should be an interesting offseason that's for sure.

This is a bold move - A-Miller to the Oilers.

GM Craig MacTavish announces #Oilers have agreed to terms with Yale (ECAC) forward Andrew Miller on a one-year entry level contract

Every team needs a Center. He's by far the best Center Toronto has & they aren't even sure they can afford him for some reason. I won't be surprised one bit if Bozek gets 5M or more. Look at Tim Connolly's last two contracts. Bozek is going to get PAID!!

I'm not saying you're wrong. Bozak will probably do quite well in FA. A few points to consider thoguh.

Bozak is not BY FAR the Leafs best center. Kadri is outplaying him handily this year with lesser linemates.

One could argue that Grabovski is a better center, based on career achievements, who is simply having a bad year.

I think that places Bozak appropriately. He's a 3rd center on most playoff teams.

$5M per year is crazy for that kind of player, IMO. With the cap going down any team that gives Bozak that kind of money on any kind of term is making a mistake.

So I should get myself ready to see Bozak in a Flames uniform then?

With Ottawa's center depth I feel relieved to say that it won't be the Sens who make this mistake.

Doesn't this have Matt Stajan 2.0 written all over it Dash?

Yup, that's exactly what I was thinking - Feaster needs to steer clear of the quick fixes and build through the draft.

One could argue that Grabovski is a better center, based on career achievements, who is simply being played 8 minutes a night on the 4th line, because the coach is a fucking idiot.

ftfy. :)

but, if the Leafs are playing Bozak as a 1st liner, more power to him for asking them to pay him like one

If the Leafs could trade Grabovski they would. His contract limits that possibility. Kadri has had a great season. I guess he doesn't qualify as a rookie, bit this is essentially his rookie year.

I realize Bozek isn't worth 5M. The problem is almost every team in the league needs Centers. It's the toughest position to fill. We don't agree with it, but some team is going to pay Bozek a lot of money on July 1st.

The NY Islanders have signed D Mike Dalhuisen from Quinnipiac University to an ELC.

Dalhuisen is a 6'3 215LB Defenseman.

He's considered a good skater who plays with an EDGE. Likes the rough stuff.

Quite true. Streit turned down a Multi-year offer from the Islanders for 5M per.

ya, that doesn't surprise me.. UFA dmen, especially the cream of the crop (regardless of the quality of the year's crop) get PAID

I'm sure his agent took notice of Timmonen gettin 6M for 1 year & realized hey Streit was the 9th leading scorer last year of all defenseman in the NHL. My guy is going to get paid BIG TIME.

Thanks HOLMGREN!!:mad2:

Apparently Streit is asking for 5.5M per year for 3 years. That would be a 1.4M raise. It's not that the Islanders couldn't give him the deal & who knows they still might. However, they might want to go a different direction. Matt Donovan, Griffen Reinhart & if he can stay healthy Calvin De Haan will probably get long looks in training camp regardless of whether Streit resigns or not.
