What was our payroll from last year?

110 mil is what i read

If the Rangers did manage to acquire both Hamilton and Shields in one fell swoop, their projected 2013 salary obligations (including arbitration projections) would soar from approximately $110 million to $140-145 million. If that scenario actually came to pass, I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers executed some sort of follow-up move to create a little bit of payroll breathing room

shit i took that as from last year.....but they are saying 110 mil was/is projected for 2013....

rangers might be big players via trade, i think thats how its gonna end up. Elvis Will be dangled for top pitcher i dont there know who. But there is to much smoke on the Grenkie, Hamilton front. Our moves usually come out of nowhere.

Hamilton is headed home from the winter meetings. Seems kind of odd that he came on the first day and is leaving so early. My guess is he wanted to come test the market, and found it less lucrative than he thought, and may decide to approach the rangers after the meetings are over.

I think Hamilton will sign a 3 to 5 year deal and stay with Rangers.

this.......... i dont think a team besides the mariners will top the 4/100 we offered and then he will have to decide if he wants to play for seattle or texas
should be a nobrainer unless he wants the extra 20-30 mil
just my thinking.....

· According to Ken Rosenthal (Fox Sports), Texas, Arizona, Cleveland, and Tampa Bay (and possibly a fifth team) are discussing a variety of trades, principally centered on “Diamondbacks right fielder Justin Upton, Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera, Rays righthander James Shields and, most likely, Texas prospects.”

One version not including the Rays, Rosenthal writes, would send Upton to Texas and Cabrera to Arizona, with Mike Olt and other prospects going to Cleveland.

Rosenthal adds that Tampa Bay and Texas have discussed Shields in the context of a separate, conventional two-team deal.

“None of the deals,” according to Rosenthal, “was close as of early Wednesday morning, and none is likely to come to fruition, considering the difficulty of putting such trades together, sources said. In fact, the number of players and prospects under discussion is so vast, some club officials involved in the talks are not even certain which combinations are alive and which are not.”

Yes please.

Supposedly they haven't offered him anything.

Yes please.

Was reading about that trade rumor, CLE is involved as well.

I'd see us parting with Crus, Olt, Elvis, Holland, other prospects for Shields and Upton in trade, then turn around and sign Grienke.

Two front of the rotation guys to put with Harry and Yu as well as a Josh replacement and making room for more time from Murphy/Gentry/Martin. An OF of Upton in RF, Gentry in CF, Murphy in LF, and Gentry spotting them time would be pretty nice as well.

i guess:

Plan A is Hamilton & Greinke

&

Plan B is JUpton & Shields

if you believe Rosenthal

If Tampa gets involved I would hope we'd be the ones getting shields.
