I wanted to scream last night. At the end of the game when the Flyers were pressuring and trying to tie it up with little time remaining...instead of taking the shot Voracek passes it to Coots who is forced to take a crazy angled, low % shot as time is running out. So annoying.

as we touched on yesterday, the flyers don't have anything to trade to get those guys. bobby ryan is worth more than laughton and a 1st, and (jagr) is worth more than a 2nd

i put jagr in ()'s because it sounds like he's got a bad back and is looking more and more like the 2nd half of last season is what he's got left.. so put some 50-pt guy in there instead

While I agree with most if not all of what has been said above there are two things that everyone is missing and they're actually Lavy's fault. First lack of practicing ST. I know it's a shortened season and all but if we're losing games because we can't score on a PP or prevent another team from scoring while on the PK an on ice practice to go over positioning ans situations might just be a good idea. Second(this one pisses me off more then anything) lack of any sort of normal line/linemates. I again get that you have to look for chemistry and all that(this is also what practice is good for btw) but you can't be playing chinese fire drill with your lines all game. It's effecting everyone even G who can't seem to get a bead on where his line mates are going to be causing him to make some horrible passes that would have been money to Jagr & Harts last season. I'm not saying leave a line together for weeks if they're struggling but give them a game or 2 to feel each other out.


Other things, we need another physical fucking D-man badly. L Schenn has been our only consistently good D-man all season and I don't care how much the announcers blow Grossmann but he's been in a different hemisphere then his assigned coverage on a number of goals.

They need to get their shit together or they can kiss the playoffs goodbye. This wouldn't be such a horrible thing given how fucked we've been and probably will continue to be on injuries but we all know they won't lose their way into drafting Seth Jones(who looks like he'll be a good 1A/1B). If this continues I think you have to try to move some money out in lieu of picks/high end prospects and then go big after ufa's and use some of your assets to fill the gaps that are left. Maybe I'm taking this bad start a bit too far, but watching these games is actually painful and at times I just want to turn them off...

@sbaickerCSN: Don't read into Bryz missing. He played very well last night and got the day off.

I'm glad his play is being acknowledged.

i actually dont think the line consistency has been a problem.. giroux, read, and simmonds have been a line since hartnell got hurt.. thats what, the last 4 games? it only started to be broken up late in the 3rd last night when briere started taking shifts instead of read..

voracek, couturier, and talbot have been together since last year's playoffs

the bottom 6 has been a little tumultous which might be an excuse for schenn struggling to find the net.. but he also started the year with hartnell and giroux and didn't look good

fedetenko, sestito, and rinaldo aren't really good enough to be too worried about chemistry.. knuble has only been here for 2 games, and briere has only played 3

timonen and schenn have played together for the whole season, except when the bench get's shortened or someone gets hurt (mesz)

grossmann and coburn have played about half the games together, plus all playoffs last year

the 3rd pair has been a revolving door, but some of that is because of the injury to mesz, the other part is because foster and lilja just aren't good hockey players

i dont think there's much more lavy can do to be consistent w/ the lines

I was screaming at the TV and my wife was getting very concerned. We could/should have taken 3 shots at the end but the perfect pass was made 4-5 times and next thing I knew, the clock read zero.

I cant understand why the penalty kill is so bad we have the same cast of characters and we were pretty good last year plus there was always a threat of us scoring short handed.

he's played a couple games w/ the phantoms now i think.. it hasn't gone well.. him and manning (ahl all-star btw) are like -6 in the two games he's been back

not sure how accurate that is, but i remember reading that on twitter

they need to hire a new defensive development coach at some point. I mean who was the last home grown d-man to actually stick with the big club for any period of time?

In fact I think they really need to liquidate a few of their develop coaches period and find some new blood. I'm all for being loyal to guys who played for the team in the past but if they are producing new NHL caliber players they aren't doing their job. Now granted this would also actually require not trading away every prospect we draft/acquire.

Ouch. I wonder if he lost his shot at the Flyers this year, anyway. So many bottom pair vets that can take his spot.

No kidding plus they added Fed who was one of the better killers on the rags last year. Doesn't make sense.

I noticed Bryz when he did that last night basically saying come on you fuckers do something!!! If anything I don't think we need to worry about goalie problems now he's back in the game.

Not sure if redden was even a possibility as the rags probably told him that they'd let him go only if he signed in the west but man that would have been a nice signing far better than foster or knubes. Maybe knubes will find his game as they go along hopefully not in April....

They have tried to adjust. Lappy was new last year and I think derian hatcher is working for the team now too.
