They have tried to adjust. Lappy was new last year and I think derian hatcher is working for the team now too.

This is my point. What is he teaching the kids, how to clutch and grab, how to slam their sticks when they get beat cause they can't move laterally? Hathcer & Cote never deserved to get coaching jobs. If they want o play an up tempo style they need to teach it through out the whole team system, if not they're just wasting their time grooming kids to trade them.

Hatcher was a good player. Of course, he got to benefit from different rules back then though.

He was a lot better before we got him he was way past his prime while on the Flyers.

i thought you meant they haven't turned over coaches at all.. they have.. disagreeing with who they hire, well that's a different story haha

i couldn't agree more on the up tempo, and training them up all the way through.. which doesn't make a ton of sense because murray is basically the anti-laviolette and he's the phantoms head coach

exactly my point. So we hire a dinosaur to teach rocket science. It's fucking ridiculous to think a guy who could only possibly succeed under the old rules would be able to teach a group to be successful in the new NHL.

So then why don't we fire Lavy and all other coaches and replace them with some one 30 or younger?

Rules and styles change over the years. That usually doesn't hinder people's ability to coach.

I never said anything about Lavy(he's a great coach IMO) or being under 30. I just think they should have the right people coaching. Hatcher has been in player developement for a few years and how many home grown defensemen do we now have on our NHL roster? How about calling a guy like Dejardins and seeing if he'd be willing to get into coaching since he was a damn good prototype of what defensemen are in the NHL today.

Also I realize that there is a larger problem in the organization and that is the lack of continuity towards the approach to the game. For starters you have Lavy who is basically all about "attacking, pressure and playing with jam", then you have Murray who is all about "sitting back and hoping the other team makes mistakes and then you're atually able to capatilize on them" and I'm not sure what Trenton is doing now honestly but I'll imagine it's something different too. Now part of this is due to the difference in athletic ability on the teams respective rosters but the organizations lack of one common goals and coaching mentality is also to blame. You can play an up tempo pressure type game even if you don't have the most talented group in the world in fact you might actually get better results seeing as most "skilled" players don't like being ground down.

The second part to the organizations problem is their general handling of prospects. I'm not sold on our drafting community outside of the past 2 years, Cooter and Laughton are good players(however I do question taking Laughton over Maata in the grand scheme). Past the first round they have no ability to find anyone of serviceable quality outside of possibly Gostisbehere who was taken in the 3rd round and had a damn good WJC this year. This is an area where they NEED to start working on, also they should continue the good work they're doing on scouting undrafted players. Oh and for fucks sake stop trading away 1st rounders for anyone over 32 & for that matter don't trade them for anyone who isn't a star and in the prime of their career(see Weber or Ryan).

I look at teams like the Preds and Wild who keep growing decent to very good D-men in system and the one thing I see is that those organizations develop and play in a way that they can go from league to league without having to re-learn what their job is.

I'm just saying that I think as an organization the Flyers need to get on the same page and straighten up what looks like chaos from an outsiders perspective.

Read was great. Bryz was solid except for the 3rd goal.

I am in tank mode. Operation Jones is in effect.

Very strong firs period, great deflection goal. Then just a lot of really boring hockey. Strong game for both keepers. Easiest 1-0 win I've seen in a very long time. 28 was a beast, especially in the first period. I was impressed. Older brother was a beast too, younger brother not so much.

Ah fuck, I was watching the canes game. Fuck you flyers. And fuck you sens for doing absolutely nothing to wear down the canes. I think they had 1 hit an I bet theyforced 3 icings tops.

Well time to drink...another Flyer goes down to an elbow no penalty to be expected as usual. We'll see if shanny does anything about it but I highly doubt it.

Not a lot of bodies left looking like an ahl team I'm not sure at this point if its better if they wilt away and trade away guys like DB at the deadline to come on big next year or fight till the end this year?

Bryz again looked good but can't seem to stop a breakaway. Sophmores looking like they're going through the jinx.

I'm a lot less concerned about Bryz stopping breakaways and a lot more concerned about us giving them up game in and game out. Couturier just looked like he figured, "Nah, no way the Washington guy is gonna try and play the puck, I'm Sean $%@&ing Couturier."

The whole game changed late in the second period when Couturier failed to get the puck deep on a line change. That is a MAJOR mistake for a kid who most definitely knows better. Before that play, which led to an easy breakaway goal against, we were up 1-0 and had total control of the game. I say it goes to overtime at worst. That's just another 1-2 points lost in a season where we won't have near as many chances to make them up.

Yep and yep but Bryz has to be able to stop at least one breakaway once in a while to bail out the team. I'm not ragging on him as he's been their best player of late but a save their would have most likely won the game...you need your starter to do that once in a while. They just need to give him more work on breakaways especially with the fucking shootouts being so critical these days.

Couturier is too smart to make that mistake again I hope that its ingrained in his brain from this day forward....

On a good note Gervais has stepped up looked fantastic. If he can progress he may take over Carles role but at worst a solid 5 dman. Too bad Bourdon and Gusty got hurt or this D would be very solid....
