Kimmo Forever
Probably not too long before we just call it a 'product of Murray's system'
If Murray comes along, Homer better not trade our 1st for a mid-season repair.

my observations of last night pretty much follow everything above. my biggest beef...VORACEK.
Where do I start on his game last night and his play this season. How about the fact he is on our 5 on 3 with multiple opportunities to shoot and just looking to pass. Bad angle of the shot, ehh maybe, but you have to make something happen. That was the least creative 5 on 3 I have ever seen in the NHL. Voracek is lost.
Simmonds had his second opportunity to tie the game late and send into OT and his stone hands let him down.
Schenn (Brayden) is at least hustling out there. I did notice that when everyone looked like they were standing still he was out banging and moving trying to make things happen.
Knuble...this is looking like disaster.
What else....Coburn is awful and even though Timmonen had a nice goal last night I am not forgetting that I thought he was playing one of his worst games I have ever seen.
While I agree with most if not all of what has been said above there are two things that everyone is missing and they're actually Lavy's fault. First lack of practicing ST. I know it's a shortened season and all but if we're losing games because we can't score on a PP or prevent another team from scoring while on the PK an on ice practice to go over positioning ans situations might just be a good idea. Second(this one pisses me off more then anything) lack of any sort of normal line/linemates. I again get that you have to look for chemistry and all that(this is also what practice is good for btw) but you can't be playing chinese fire drill with your lines all game. It's effecting everyone even G who can't seem to get a bead on where his line mates are going to be causing him to make some horrible passes that would have been money to Jagr & Harts last season. I'm not saying leave a line together for weeks if they're struggling but give them a game or 2 to feel each other out.
Other things, we need another physical fucking D-man badly. L Schenn has been our only consistently good D-man all season and I don't care how much the announcers blow Grossmann but he's been in a different hemisphere then his assigned coverage on a number of goals.
They need to get their shit together or they can kiss the playoffs goodbye. This wouldn't be such a horrible thing given how fucked we've been and probably will continue to be on injuries but we all know they won't lose their way into drafting Seth Jones(who looks like he'll be a good 1A/1B). If this continues I think you have to try to move some money out in lieu of picks/high end prospects and then go big after ufa's and use some of your assets to fill the gaps that are left. Maybe I'm taking this bad start a bit too far, but watching these games is actually painful and at times I just want to turn them off...
Regardless of who the coach is (I still want Lavy), I hope homer doesn't trade the 1st for a mid season repair
Flyers had four 'F's that pretty much summarize their issues.
1. Forecheck. They don't do a good job of either pressuring the puck in the offensive zone or getting it out in the defensive zone. I saw a time in the first period where a Ranger pressured our Dman on the wall, and the Flyer reversed it behind the net and it took so long to develop that the Ranger changed and his replacement continued the forecheck. The hell? It's not rocket surgery, boys. Quick pass, get out of the zone. Of course, maybe that's not a good strategy, because of...
2. Fancy passing. Stop getting cute, especially when exiting the zone. Somebody said earlier Coburn had 18 turnovers, my question to them would be "Which period are you referring to." Reversing is fine if done for a specific reason, namely to avoid pressure and get the puck to an open man. The Rangers were so set up to stop it they might as well have built a little house there. And the number of times we let New York clear the zone because somebody tried to squeeze it through a non-existent hole or just missed on a pass is almost as bad as the numbers we had in...
3. Faceoffs. We were 21 of 61 in the dots tonight. That's not bad, that's fucking terrible. Worse is that this isn't new - Giroux's been getting beat all season. Faceoffs are huge - they generate chances for and prevent chances against. They help burn time on the penalty kill or keep the opponents from clearing on the power play. They are also the closest thing to a set play you will ever get in hockey, meaning winning an offensive zone draw offers a higher chance of scoring than dump and chase or even carrying the puck over the line. I will type out every Flyer who at least broke even on faceoffs here:
4. Fucking shoot the puck. Yes, it's the Rangers. Yes, they block shots. But you know what? Blocking shots hurts. Blocking shots wears you down. And blocking shots is really easy if the team with the puck is too busy trying to set up the perfect five on three to bother actually shooting the puck. Lundqvist is great, but perfection he ain't, and this team is built to crash the net, so get bodies up front and let'er'rip. That five on three was terrible. Just... terrible.
Bryz did his job, though I didn't love the first New York goal. Briere at least established that he's willing to shoot the puck. Talbot was a non-asshole when the Ranger player he was fighting got hurt. That's all the good news you get, folks. See you Friday.
Shooting (or a lack thereof) is killing us.Wide open shots and trying to make the perfect pass. When they do shoot they miss so many. last night was really bad.
bschenn is at least hustling, but the flyers are gunna need more than hustle from him i think.. he needs to put the puck in the net, same goes for couturier
having voracek with giroux on the PP is a complete waste of a spot.. even though voracek seems to have forgotten that the flyers are black and orange, he should be in 'giroux's spot on the 2nd unit.. having him ont he far side is a complete waste.. all he does is pass it back to timonen if timonen even bothers to look that way.. the 5 on 3 was a joke because there was no trigger man.. they were setting giroux up to shoot the puck.. why? timonen is a pass first player, voracek is a pass first player, giroux is a pass first player, briere is great in close, but not a trigger man, and the flyers PP is better off if simmonds doesn't touch the puck unless its on a puck that was shot, or on a rebound.. put schenn out there, or couturier, or read.. someone that at least MIGHT think shoot first
Also, I'm expecting a lot more out of B Schenn.
Voracek is scared to shoot and it pisses me off. He is the anti-Jeff Carter (and not in a good way).
A guy that is scared to shoot and we use him on the PP go figure.
