20 receiving TDs!?! That's like, well, ummmm.... The Lions team output, basicly, for the most part, pretty much.

Yeah, if only the Lions could have played Texas St., UCLA, Louisiana Tech, Rice, N. Texas, UAB, SMU, UTEP, E. Carolina, Tulsa, Marshall, and Tulane last year. <sigh>

I think we should sign FA DT Sedrick Ellis. We need another DT to fill out the group, and a former #7 overall pick would be a nice addition as a rotational guy for us, imo...

So, if Burleson thinks Edwards is going to be the 3rd receiver, what is he saying about himself/Broyles?

I think Nate is listed under "reverse specialist" on the depth chart.

We'll see if it translates to the game.

He probably was looking to the future a bit. I'm pretty sure this is Nate's last year.

I translated this to say, "From what I've seen in OTAs, Edwards has the tools, the desire, and the work ethic to succeed in this league, but CJ and Broyles are better."

Reverse specialist? Haha, hopefully that's sarcasm.

Yeah, I still can't find the sarcasm font. Nate had better be able to beat out Kris Durham for the third spot. Or last year, might have been his last year. (I don't care for his reverses, and that's a serious statement).

I feel sorry for Ponder. Well, you know, a little sorry. As sorry as you can feel for someone in a Vikings helmet, anyway.

I dig the Vikings Helmet.......It's sharp! It has pop......Wish we would trash the white jerseys and go with the black on the road and silver no logo at home.

So, if Burleson thinks Edwards is going to be the 3rd receiver, what is he saying about himself/Broyles?

He's saying that he'll (Burleson) be the #2 and that Edwards would be the #3 if/until Broyles is healthy enough to step in.

Here's what the article said about it:

Fast forward to 2013, and Edwards is the talk of the Lions' offseason as the leading candidate to snare the third receiver job with Ryan Broyles still recovering from knee surgery and Titus Young long gone.

He probably was looking to the future a bit. I'm pretty sure this is Nate's last year.

I wouldn't bank on that. He's turning 32 this season, and he's not a RB, so I see no reason to expect him to retire.

I feel like the propensity of RBs to hit the wall at 30 has tainted fans to believe that 30 is the magic number for all positions. It seems to me like it's closer to 35 for the other positions, 40 for QBs and kickers/punters. O-linemen and DTs also seem to routinely make it past 35 as well.

Per Nate, he's much more of a possession receiver than a speed guy, so there's no reason to think he won't play for 2 or 3 more seasons...

I compare Nate's style and skillset very much to Donald Driver. Nate isn't nearly as accomplished as Driver was, but they're are of similar style..,

Fuller or Edwards will be number two by the end of the yr. Like both of them, Fuller has tons of speed to stretch the defense.

Edwards is awfully short to be a #2 guy. He profiles much better as a slot guy.

I'm liking what we have in our WR group right now- the best WR in the game in CJ, a veteran #2 in Burleson and a young developmental #2 in Fuller. Then we have 3 young slot guys in Broyles, Thomas and Edwards.

Seems like a pretty decent WR corps right now...

I would say the lions still need a number 2 because Burleson is more of a slot type of receiver as well. Like the guy, but not built to be a great number 2.
