We have coddled and ignored his sturggles and that hasn't worked. Time to try a new medicine, embarrass him. Make it obvious that we all notice it.

I'd also sit him down and say "maybe all this is because of your contract issue. How about 5/$100M and we put that all behind us and move forward?"

I'd be curious to know how far apart they were when they were in discussions.

So Wash agrees with Nolan that Hamilton is giving away ABs (which he should) but almost in the same breath lambasts the fanbase for questioning MYs performance

Get a clue Wash

I've really began resenting wash since last WS. Especially with his fanboydom of MY.

MY is the WORST everyday player in the MLs based on WAR at -1.3, tied with Jeff Francouer, and he's actually worse offensively b/c Frenchie loses more value b/c he plays a defensive position poorly

Yeah, but wash is going to keep trotting him out there every night because he's the ultimate MY fanboy. He's an awful manager, and I wish they hadn't extended him. He's an idiot.

Problem with Wash, is he's getting results depite his failings as a manager, anybody you hire is going to go through some pains learning the clubhouse and whatnot and the backlash from the players might be counterproductive

He's not getting many results right now.

Not disagreeing but who do we put out there in his place. If we put nap at 1st then we have to put YT behind the plate and we have to use Snyder

last I looked a 5 game lead in the division and the 3rd best record in the Majors is results, especially with all the pitching injuries

Yeah, the thing is pitching isn't what's kept us down. The pitching has been great. Like I've been saying, wash gets results in spite of his management.

My point was you don't bench a player who seems to be working out of a slump.

I did love this quote from Wash: "There's a possibility I may juggle the lineup. But it's hard to juggle the lineup when you've got everybody in the lineup doing the same thing. What difference is it going to make?"

It's time for most of the lineup to step up and start hitting somewhere close to what they're capable of, because a lot of them simply aren't.

I'd take Snyder over MY at this point, yes he's that pathetic right now

C- Nap
1B- Snyder
2B- Kinsler
3B- Beltre
SS- Andrus
OF/DH- Hamilton, Murphy, Gentry, Cruz

Use Young is somebody needs a day off

I don't refute that, I'm just saying you can't easily justify it

"The Rangers just fired their manager who led them to back to back WS, and had the 3rd best record in the majors at the time of his firing" just has a terrible ring to it

The man's got a point....

That said, I'd like to test out this lineup for a game or two (when Moreland comes back)

Gentry
Andrus
Kinsler
Beltre
Hamilton
Cruz
Moreland
Young
Napoli

Assuming Gentry can handle the leadoff spot...that would put speed on the basepaths for the 3-4-5 guys. Its a thought. (and if Napoli heats up...then move him in front of Cruz or behind him)

Wash has become a very touchy and defensive person (as most managers are). Anytime any reporter, fan, or analyst questions any of his moves, he lashes out instead of merely explaining his rationale. It's almost like "who are you to question my moves?" It's an absolutely RIDICULOUS notion that fans are "turning their backs on Michael Young" just because we all see how poor his production has been. How dare we question the almighty Ron Washington or Michael Young? And I also love the ridiculous comment about "what good would it do to change the lineup?" Umm, Ron, at this point what could it HURT? Not changing the lineup is not doing an ounce of good. Hamilton is still lost. Young is a detriment to the team. Andrus and Beltre's hitting is being wasted because those other two surround them in the lineup. Gentry has gotten quite good at finding ways to get on base and cause havoc with his speed. His production is being wasted at the 9-spot, especially since the "leadoff hitter" is more interested in swinging for the fences than hitting singles and getting on base.

It's like for some odd reason Ron Washington feels that the current batting order is set in stone and should never be changed. I have never seen one team stick with the exact same batting order for this long, especially when mired in a 2-month long offensive funk. Players respond all of the time by being moved to different parts of the batting order. Shake it up. Dust off the cobwebs. Break the monotony of everyone hitting in their same spots. It's not like the team is comfortable and feeling it at the plate. They say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"... well, it's safe to say that it's "broke" and has been for some time now.
