Eskimos have relieved GM Eric Tillman of his duties effective immediately...

/the gong show continues up north.

Edit: Then there's this little tidbit...

CJOB's Bob Irving says he heard earlier this season that Tillman traded Ray to T.O. because he knew he was going to become Argos GM.

whoa. that's a pretty serious accusation.
of course, no one else could really think of a logical explanation for the trade at the time.
but then, how do you explain stockpiling 5 running backs.

Andrew Harris sets record (that Cornish set yesterday)

Most yards from scrimmage by a Canadian
Harris - 1,797 (three quarters left to go)
Cornish - 1,795
Evanshen - 1,662 (in 1967)

no rust on Lulay so far. Only 7-0 after 1,
but they are knocking on the door again after the Bighill INT
some stats: first downs in the quarter 8-0, net yards 107-5.

Harris also on pace to be the first player to lead his team in both Rushing and Receiving since Willie Fleming (BC) 49 years ago.
(Gore could still catch Harris for receiving if he busts a long one tonight, he's about 60 yards back)

Lulay only played a quarter, so his TD streak appears to be over.

I don't know, puck, should Harris be mentioned in the same sentence as Willie Fleming, I mean, he's had a full 18 games while guys like Simon and Bruce have been on the shelf?

/asterisk time
//of course I'm joking

Pretty amazing depth that there are four guys who could have had a shot at leading receiver on the team
Tough to key on one or two guys when they are all healthy.

Also, another record looks to fall tonight... Lions are sitting on 23 turnovers (knock on wood) for the season, while the record low stands at 28

So much for the Fleming comparison.
Gore just took the receiving lead, and I think Harris' night is done

Harris and Cornish finished 1-2 in yards from scrimmage and that is a CFL first.

/since they've been keeping official stats

Drew Tate gets the start for the Stamps.

either one is not a bad choice, but will get seconds guessed anyway unless they get a trophy.

That surprises me, but I guess Huf is usually the "can't lose your job due to an injury" axiom.

/The key phrase is "ball security"
//Any change Huf might be using some shenanigans (i.e. announce Tate, but then name Glenn as the starter Sunday morning)

Riders' GM was surprised, and so was Wally when he was told about it.
you could be right though, could be he wants to make 'em prepare for one over the other.

I've renamed the thread to include playoffs (and we'll create a new thread for the Grey Cup game)

JC Sherritt should not be the West representative for outstanding defensive player, Bighill, Keron Williams, and Charleston Hughes had better years than Sherritt. Oh well, if it stops the whining from Esks fans, so be it.

Owens, Cornish finalists for CFL's outstanding player award

/I have a feeling Owens will take outstanding player over Cornish, but congrats to Jon for winning the West nomination.

I realize Farhan Lalji is a Lions fan, but I agree with the following:

@FarhanLaljiTSN: Sherritt tackling record is huge, but the Esks defense never got off the field. Bighill did so much more for the #CFLs best defense #BCLions

tough break for Andrew Harris ... 2 yards short of being only the second cdn to lead the league in yards from scrimmage ... but when the MOP nominee is also cdn, what can you do with the outstanding cdn nominee :noidea:

i really think he gets overlooked and doesnt get the respect from media STILL because he came out of a cdn junior football not a ncaa school

dude can do it all ... Id take him over the other guy any day of the week ... catch, run & block ... plus he's not a me first guy
