FarhanLaljiTSN: #BClions nominees for #CFL awards: Lulay (outstanding); Harris (Cdn); Bighill (defensive); Olafioye (OL); Brown (teams); Westerman (rookie)

Lulay and Bighill should both win (I know the mouth breathers in Edmonton will say JC Sherritt, but Bighill has been more dominant that Sherritt).

Stamps nominees are Cornish (MOP and Top Canadian), Rene Paredes (Special teams, he's had a great season), Tsoumpas (Lineman), Chris Randle (Rookie), and Charleston Hughes (defense, also a fine season, but I still would give the edge to Bighill).

I think Cornish deserves it over Harris for Top Canadian (but it's very close)

Final week of the CFL regular season starts tonight as Hamilton plays Toronto - The Tiger-Cats need to win and have Edmonton lose to Calgary on Friday night to make the playoffs.

Since Ricky Ray is not playing and Edmonton is terrible, Hamilton has a good chance.

I must say I do enjoy watching football in the snow.
kind brings it home - the ball that slipped off of the frozen tee for Andy Fantuz a couple of weeks ago could end up costing Hamilton a playoff spot.

Cortez should have had the team attempt the winning field goal on 2nd down - that way, if it gets botched, you still have 3rd down to try again.

last second FG by Swayze Waters gives the Argos the victory,
and there will be a crossover playoff team in the (L)east.

congrats John Cornish - single season Canadian rushing leader (1,457)
Normie Kwong's record stood for 56 years.

Eskies making a game of it though. 27-24 Stamps going into the 4th

holy shit, we are in for a finish. 1:30 left, tie game,
- Esks fuck up a 30 yard FG, turn the ball over on downs.
- next play, Stamps throw an interception, negated by a roughing the passer penalty.
- next play, Stamps fumble, which is returned by Edmonton back into FG range. But it's under review, because the guy who fumbled wasn't touched when he fell down, and the ball was knocked away while he was down on one knee. So, in slapping the ball, did they touch the player and kill the play, with the Stamps close to FG range.
- And on review, the call the play incomplete anyways :L

and of course, the ROUGE is in play FTW
(and JC Sherritt sets a new CFL record with 130 tackles in a season)

stamps MISSED the GW Field goal with no time left, But Edmonton called time out to ice him.
of course he hits the next one. game over, Stamps win 30-27.

I respect the heck out of Wally Buono, but sorry Wally you're wrong...

Record books should add an asterisk, Buono says

/I wonder if Wally would feel the same way if Andrew Harris would have set the new rushing record.

Edit: Here's what Norm Kwong had to say about Cornish breaking his record:

“I don’t watch that many games but I watched tonight,” said Kwong from his Calgary home. “In my mind, I knew he’d probably pass it today. It’s something that’s not always on my mind but it came up in this game, and it’s great. I’m happy for him. Football always need good Canadian content. And that’s what we’ve got now.”

Classy Normie, very classy.

considering the league (rightly) changed the rules to keep Lulay's streak alive, this was a time when Buono should have picked his words more diplomatically. the records stood for 56 years, and a whole chunk of that time was in an 18 game season. I know he was trying to point out what a phenomenal athlete Kwong was, but if something can be taken a couple of different ways..... it will be.

"congratulations, great to witness, canadian content, good battler, end of comment"
