Well then how do you evaluate talent Jed. I understand highlight tapes are exactly that but what else do you have to go by?? If you can't be at every game and do a in home visit and get to know every player. How else are you supposed to judge his talent and character.

I know you have to continue developing players its a never ending process but you have to start somewhere. And you can't tell me that is not a impressive highlight tape. And if you do you are flat out lying for the sake of arguing.

I dont see your point at all Jed. Adding !!!!!!! At the end of you sentence doesn't make you right or add anything to your point. Klechko had a motor and got to the linebackers and took them to the ground. What makes you think that would stop at all when he got to college. Why would he change the physical way in which he played.

I didn't watch that link to his tape so I can't say it was impressive because I don't care. I can go to a game with my high school alma mater and see a player or 2 that is smacking players around up and down the field but then I look at the caliber of player they are going up against and it doesn't mean as much. I don't know why he would change the physical way he played. Maybe he would get whipped by bigger and better guys and get frustrated and just give up. Maybe he would come in thinking he is the shit and the next big thing like they are hyped up to be and not think he needs to try hard. Maybe he would have a bitch back home like Tyler Moore and beg him to come crawling back home like a little bitch. Maybe he would be home sick and miss his money and daddy and get down on himself. Maybe he wouldn't do well in his classwork and get down on himself. I am not saying that he wasn't a stud or anything like that. He was a flop, it happens every year to every program. So what!!!!!! All I am saying is that a highlight tape does not tell the whole story. So just because a highlight tape shows someone being an animal doesn't mean that he actually is an animal or will be at the next level. Just like going to the NFL. There are players that are complete freaks in college. Then they get to the NFL and they can't do squat. It is the same thing from high school to college. It happens. There are flops all over the place. You just hope that you are lucky enough to limit the flops as a recruiter. You are right, you can only do so much as a recruiter. At some point you just have to hope you are right. Just like any professional sport scout.

Highlight tapes are what we see as fans. Coaches can get access to better tapes. Most coaches anymore tape drills and practice along with full game tape. Drills can tell you a lot in a short amount of time.

Untill Nebraska can develop more depth on the oline and dline Nebraska will be at this level. Right now they have the talent on offense at the skilled postions. The defense however needs better talent at the DT postions and the Linebackers this year besides Compton just wasn't that good. DT's that can collaspe the pocket and create stress for the oline and a inside pass rush is critacal for Bo's defense to work. IMO we've got better talent at the LB's waiting to be displayed next year and with Love being at Nebraska in the spring helps.

IMO you have to recruit 4 to 5 olinemen every year and I also believe they should be always be redshirted. 2 DT and 2 DE as well every year. Nebraska hasn't done that like they did when Osborne was the head coach.

Not sure I agree about the Cody comment there Pops, but colleges rarely except highlight tapes and want full game tapes or multiple game tapes - as per my experience with my daughters when dealing with college volleyball coaches. Many colleges send out folks to watch and film high school games. Still, many kids are redshirted (held back in school) by their parents and when they get to college they already past their peak - Imani Cross being an exception because he came into college built for it.
