If we somehow got Rivers, this would be a Super Bowl team. That's in spite of all the shenanigans and Marvin's dumbfuckery.

I heard they wanted 2 firsts and a second.
I'd give them 2 firsts and either let them pick a player off the roster, or next year's 3rd which converts to a 2nd if they win a playoff game

Two firsts and a second for a guy that is 33 and has a tendency to get banged up? I don't see it happening. I'll be shocked if they get more than a 1st and a 3rd for the guy...... I'm just willing to throw in Dalton because I'm a hell of a guy.

the rumor was they were going to trade Rivers to the Titans for the #2 pick. I don't know why Tennessee would do that because they are awful and are way more than a good qb away from being relevant.

Makes sense in some ways.... Rivers is a southern guy. Grew up in Alabama and has a lot of family all over the south. He has something like 23 children (not in the Antonio Cromartie way) and apparently is apprehensive about moving to Los Angles which is becoming more and more of a possibility for that franchise. Wisenhunt is going to start to feel the pressure to win after his team looked awful for much of last year -- Keep in mind that he wasn't much of a head coach if you eliminate the years that Warner gave him a spark in AZ. He probably figures that Rivers gives him at least 7 wins in a crappy AFC and even crappier AFC-S. That's enough to get his job moving in the right direction. Tennessee ownership gets a signature player. Have they had once since McNair? What do you think about when you think about the Titans? Have they had a single relevant guy in a decade? Chris Johnson maybe? Odd franchise. San Diego gets Mariotta -- A guy that would fit with a move to LA as the face of a new franchise. It all makes sense.

And you call yourself a Bengals fan....Ever hear of a guy named Antwan Odom? What a beast. What a star.

Makes sense for SD, doesn't make sense for Tennessee. If I were the Titans I would just take Mariotta and call it a day and leave the often injured 33 year old QB in SD where he has little weapons around him.

As a Bengal fan, I would be completely opposed to giving away anything more than Dalton, a 1st round pick and a conditional pick the following year that could elevate to as high as a 2nd rounder based on performance. Otherwise, he fails, is injured too often, etc, it would be no better than a 4th round pick as the conditional.

trade them Andy Dalton
1st round pick this year
Conditional pick 4th round - If he is a bust
Conditional pick 3rd round - If he wins a playoff game
Conditional pick 2nd round - If he makes it to a SB this year

If we gave up more than that, would would feel it for a few years, and I am not willing to blow it up that damn much.

The rings are on back order. They sold out of them after the Ghee signing.

I can't in any way see how Josh Johnson is able to unseat McCarron from the #2 role. I think this is for competition (albeit: HORRIBLE competition) in training camp so they get enough balls to guys at other positions, especially WR. If this was Jason Campbell they resigned, I would have had a shit fit. Not even McCarron is as horrible as Josh Johnson, and there is still an outside chance of a later round QB being taken in the draft that would more than likely unseat Johnson as the 3rd string QB.

LOL!

At least it made a tiny bit of sense two seasons ago. Gruden was here, he understood the offense, etc.

They signed Josh Johnson specially to keep McCarron on the bench. AJ might actually make a case to bench Dalton, whereas Johnson poses no threat. We can't have that. As Marv has said, QB competitions help no one. I guaran-damn-tee it. Anything to protect Dalton's delicate sensitivity.

Naw....even McCarron posses no threat even if he is the next great thing. He will never get a chance as long as Dalton is here. There is no threat no matter what, because Marvin will never let McCarron see the light of day during a regular season game, as long as Dalton doesn't get murdered.

Oh I know. I just feel like this is a ploy to take snaps away from McCarron in both practice and preseason. Thus removing all semblance of competition from Dalton's mind. In case by some miracle of God that AJ actually performs well and the fans start getting testy. Well all know Johnson sucks ass. Keeps the fans from bitching for the backup QB when the backup is a spare like Josh Johnson.

Marvin Lewis doesn't give a shit about the fans or the media. He will do what he wants no matter the cost. People get upset, he will give them the big ol' F U and keep doing what he wants to do.

McCarron probably got hurt again. that's the only way this makes since. we should just get a 7th rounder to put on the practice squad... and still might.

possibilities:

1 of them gets released (Johnson) or traded (McCarron)
2. McCarron gets injured (or other gets injured) in that case, we can carry all 3
3. Mike Brown is just f'n with us as usual.

You always take 4 quarterbacks to camp, so it's not really shocking. We can't expect Ginger to throw too many passes under the hot sun. He's a big skin cancer risk and we're heavily invested in him. He might have to spend some of those summer days inside our spacious indoor practice room.

According to Dehner from the Enquirer....Johnson is more as a 3rd QB to push AJ a bit, and also save arms in camp. He doesn't see either Johnson or Tate making the final 53 man roster (injuries no withstanding, of course).

We'll see.
