It's Star Wars day at the yard, and the Giants are honoring Tim Hudson.

Kicking it off with a nice video tribute (including many of his former teammates/coaches), and I'm sure they have an R-rated version for Huddy personally.

The Giants do a good job with ceremonies, and they really do a fantastic job of keeping guys part of the Giants family, but man these can run long sometimes.

These ceremonies are great recruitment fodder.

What other orgs are as good as the Giants with there alumni connection and these ceremonies? Yankees? Cardinals? I can't think of any other org.

SHIT I missed Kelby hit an inside the park homer because I was watching the Angels rally against the Rangers!

And then Byrd hits a conventional homerun back-to-back!

Just like we envisioned in April.

I honestly don't know how well other teams do it, but I know the Giants do a fantastic job. They love their reunions.

I tuned in just in time to see Byrd touch home plate.

Well, this Texas/Angels game is pretty crazy so I'm not too pissed. Angels down 4 runs in the 9th, and Texas clinches the division with a win. Angels have tied it up with 2-outs, still 2 runners on.

edit: Wow, Angels just took the lead. Insane comeback.

Their 2002 squad was quite dangerous with late inning comebacks. It seemed like they were coming from behind all the time that season.

That f**king rally monkey.

This race is quite fascinating. The Rangers are in the playoffs, but they could go from division to wild-card if they lose the last 2 games, while the Angels can't lose a game. The Rangers could screw the Astros if they end up losing this, but they could also screw themselves over. Love seeing races come down to the last day, which is shaping up in the AL-West.

OH MY GOODNESS! Andrus stole second base in the 9th inning, but over-slid the bag and was tagged out, and that's how the Angels win. Wow.

That is a crazy ending to a game.

What year was it when multiple teams made it in the playoffs the last day of the season?

2011.

The Cardinals beat the Astros on game 162, while the Braves lost to the Phillies. The Braves held the wild card for most of September, until game 161 (tied), and then 162.

The Rays beat the Yankees on a walk-off homerun in extra innings (after hitting a game tying homer in the 9th), and Boston lost to Baltimore on a walk-off single (where they held the lead in the 9th). That was after the game went to a rain delay, and Boston literally watched the Rays win.

Thanks. I couldn't remember any teams but the Rays.

I'll just never forget some of the fallout from that. Boston was perfect, like 70-0, when leading after 8 innings going into that game. Papelbon picked a great time to blow that record. The ensuing year Boston was terrible and made that massive trade with LA.

Did the Yankees fold by not putting out their best pitchers to close out the Rays (including Mariano Rivera in the 9th)?

The Braves had a chance at redemption after 2010, but then didn't have a chance.

Very memorable for me, despite the Giants, or really anyone from the NL West, being real involved.

21 homers and 84 RBI from Crawford, when really since mid-August his season was lost due to injury. Incredible.

Peavy pitches great, and Bum get's a pinch-hit in Huddy's retirement game. That's pretty awesome. Then Boch brings in Mike Leake to pinch run
