Yea I'd have veto that one.
It's been working good so far, if Hart continues his growth he'll be very solid next season.Im liking watching the kids play and get experience and more are on the way in Meyers and Morin and maybe Lebarge. I have to assume all of the young players getting experience this season will pay off. It already is paying off with Hart and if Hexy would've listened to you he would've been up a month earlier.
Yes oilers are worse because even with that advantage they are still shit. But just shows you how bad the penqueens were to create that core...as well as lucky to actually have good players to pick. What a joke...Oh ya. They were just as bad as the Sabres were.
2002 - Whitney (5)
2003 - MAF (1)
2004 - Malkin (2)
2005 - Crosby (1)
2006 - Staal (2)
It's pretty damn easy to build a dynasty when you have that start with.
Unless of course you're the Oilers.. god are they bad.
2010 - Hall (1)
2011 - Nugent-Hopkins (1)
2012 - Yakupov (1)
2013 - Nurse (7)
2014 - Draisaitl (3)
2015 - McDavid (1)
2016 - Puljujarvi (4)
How the hell do you not win a Stanley Cup when you draft in the top 7, seven years in a row? Including 4 first overall picks.
Huh? those guys are still playing or integral parts of their team so it is rational to discuss this....At what point does the Pittsburgh tank job story die? This happened so long ago and so many things have happened since then why do we as fans keep bringing up something that happened 15 years ago. As you clearly have outlined here tanking is no sure thing so i would have to say its about time us as Flyers fans stop with the Pittsburgh tanked theory and go out and beat their ass.
Teams have had 15 years to combat the Pittsburgh tank job with free agency, trades and draft picks so in 2019 this should be a non issue IMOHuh? those guys are still playing or integral parts of their team so it is rational to discuss this....
Unless you are just trying to create posts which as everyone knows im in favor of.Teams have had 15 years to combat the Pittsburgh tank job with free agency, trades and draft picks so in 2019 this should be a non issue IMO
Nothing like waking up at 4am to the news that the Flyers have made a trade.
Welcome to the Flyers Cam Talbot. Hope you are the supreme team player back up you are promoted as being.
Stoli, thanks for being a Flyers. Hope you can stay healthy and thrive.
didnt realize Stolie was to become a UFA.Yep. Don’t love that it was 1 for 1. Was hoping we could at least get something for bailing the Oilers out. But there was finally confirmation from Seravalli that Stolarz needed to play 10 more games this year otherwise he’ll be UFA at the end of the year. He probably wasn’t getting that here with Hart and it was pretty unlikely the Flyers were going to re-sign him anyway. Might as well bring Hart’s friend/mentor in and test him out as the backup for a couple months.
Not super inspiring, but a pretty low impact trade regardless. I’d be nervous going in to next season with Hart/Stolarz.
I hear you but when you are able to get that many all-world talent it's still affecting things today. Not saying penqueens aren't unbeatable but two top notch centers on the same team will always be trouble to stop. Hard to find this when you are always picking outside of the top 5. You may not even get this picking first like the oilers so it's unbelievable luck.Teams have had 15 years to combat the Pittsburgh tank job with free agency, trades and draft picks so in 2019 this should be a non issue IMO
I liked Stoly but under the circumstances Talbot makes sense and he can pass on invaluable information to Hart. Hopefully he stays as Elliott just can't stay healthy. Talbot should be a solid backup he's a quality goalie but probably had enough of Edmonton...didnt realize Stolie was to become a UFA.
Guess this trade could have upside. I am not sure Talbot sticks next year. He is making over 4 mil this year and wont get that as a backup next season.
If he can agree to a reasonable term then a Hart/Talbot tandem could be pretty solid
If you can get a great deal for him then do it, if you hold on and dont make the pkayoffs chances are he walks for nothing.I wonder if Simmonds still gets dealt being this close to a playoff spot. We are six points out now that the Pens lost today.
