Also these players were the only standouts on mediocre teams.

That's my point. All the frustration over past teams, firing former coaches, etc. is not a reflection on 'the core'. The team was mediocre. Plain and simple. They didn't win playoff games/rounds because they weren't good enough. Not because 'the core' failed them in some way.

Colorado did the same with Duchene last year, he was a great player but it was more about him and Roo reminds me of that, also look what the AV's have done since ridding themselves of that cancer.

Ok, let's look at the Avs situation and how it compares.

Who's the Flyers version of MacKinnon?

I understand, but this team is not improving. Not saying this is all on G but IMO he just doesn't seem like he cares either.

According to Raptor it's Giroux, I mean Mckinnon wasn't second in scoring last year. Difference is McKinnon plays both ends of the ice, I believe Roo is as good as any NHL'er but sometimes he just looks very disinterested.

Also McKinnon missed about 20 plus games last year so the rest of the team did pretty well, think they had a 12 game winning streak somewhere in there.

Doesnt seem like he cares? He was 2nd in the NHL in scoring . You cant do that by not caring

Scoring isn't a scoring thing. He just looks to me like he has no heart. I watched Kessel challenge him last year in the playoffs and he skated off like a broad. No doubt his talent is there, just not his heart at times. Thisis just my opinion so don't take it to heart.

Im not dude. Look Im frustrated as well. Its painful to watch them lose with no fight in them.

Honestly I dont know what it could be. Last year we lost 10 in a row and had to crawl back and had nothing in the tank once the playoffs started. It going 6 was amazing especially against the Pens coming off of back to back cups.

I have no doubt this core has heart and the ability to lead a team. I truly think they are pissed about the goaltending and the Defence hasnt helped.
Really need Provy to step up IMO.

I dont know if it is all on the coach but sometimes you need a different voice and system.

I really thought after giving up 28 goals in 6 playoff games the front office would have tried to address the goaltending. They are just buying time for Carter Hart and he is not a lock either. I would have tried to make a deal for a true number 1 in the offseason . Now they are stuck with a bunch of goalies that are not true number 1's.
If it was me I would give the reigns the Nuevy. He has shown flashes when healthy.

I would also take a long hard look at Hakstol.

Plus he's proven he can actually be good at it in his career.

Plus he's a threat to score a SH goal which helps the psychology on the PK. If the PP has no fear of a SHG, they play loose and free. They know Knight/Lehtera/AMac/Hagg ain't doing shit to them. It's a free 2 minutes of offense with no threat the other way.

This goes back to las's push to sign Grabner in the offseason. In hindsight, I definitely have to give him that one.

So in a nut shell, this team would have to start doing some of Lehtera's coke to start playing super well, lol. This team may have the talent to gel and get into the playoffs. With Elliott as our number one we don't stand a chance, he's garbage. I would like to see some of these super talented draft picks I've heard so much about get there feet wet. There is nothing to lose from this point on? See what the fuck you have, fix your PK problem and re evaluate your coaching and system. Something serious needs to happen soon or were just going to remain stuck here all season. On a side note, I said it last year and I'll say it again. If a player is playing hurt he is being selfish to the team. HEAL!! You do no one any good limping around all season and not be 100% come playoff time!

I agree with everything you said here, however if you know as a team that goaltending isn't your strong suit, then make your system fit to cover that weakness. I know as a player you can't stop weak goals but you CANNOT let guys just sit in the crease either untouched. It's crazy at the NHL level these players don't know that. Yes it is frustrating lol.

Hagg is playing just fine in his role if you ask me. He is physical and takes the body

He seems to make a lot of positional mistakes. Then again, some of those could really be more on MacD or Folin and it just looks like it was Hagg out of position.

Read and Couts still had good PK chemistry in their limited time together last year. I'm sure Read could be reaquired for a 6th or 7th round pick or scrub prospect. Any interest in giving it a try?

I think Morin's injury is also part of what is hurting the PK. They were looking for him to be that defensive anchor in the crease.

The core leaders on this team fails to motivate the rest of the team and are only interested in playing offense. This is a two way game with guys who can in our end as well.

Well it's a good thing we have something to talk about. Like to see Awaz worked up means I'm seeing bad hockey to! Not sure where this team ends up but I'm sure it wont be a boring ride.

One last thing, you can't show this type of passion for more than one game? Can you guys imagine if this guy played like this all the time?

You don't just lose that type of passion unless you don't care any more.[/MEDIA]

Or if this guy played like this all the time?

If he's hurt, than he's hurting the team by playing IMO.
