Immediate moves:

1) Fire Lappy. Put someone else in charge of PK and implement new PK system.
2) Send MacDonald down and call up Myers. Sit Folin or Hagg.
3) Waive Pickard (Tor will claim), call up Neuvirth or Lyon.
4) Send Vorobyev down to regain his confidence and call up Rubstov who has been hot.
Hagg is playing just fine in his role if you ask me. He is physical and takes the body
Pickard is gone
Im not against calling someone else up
Lappy being here is again a problem that should have been addressed in the offseason. Hextall did say he wanted to help this part of the team and so far its been a fail

Couturier has been hurt so I'll give him a pass for now, but Giroux, Voracek and Simmonds have all been completely disinterested in playing D.
This I can agree with. If there's something to get pissed at 'the core' about, it's their lack of defensive effort. IMO, taking Giroux of the PK basically told him his job is to produce offense. Do that, do your job. I'd put him back on the PK regularly instead of just a FO specialist. Get it in his head that his job is also to prevent goals.

Plus he's proven he can actually be good at it in his career.

Plus he's a threat to score a SH goal which helps the psychology on the PK. If the PP has no fear of a SHG, they play loose and free. They know Knight/Lehtera/AMac/Hagg ain't doing shit to them. It's a free 2 minutes of offense with no threat the other way.

Who are we identifying as the core? You say 3rd coach being fired for a non-motivated team.

Laviolette fired 10/7/2013. So 2013-218 who has been on the team:

Couturier, Giroux, Simmonds, and Voracek.

So you're literally blaming the Flyers 3 best players and Simmonds for the team being bad? That doesn't sound crazy to you?
Have we won anything with those three players? We keep changing coaches but not players who have won nothing.

Crazy you say: The definition of crazy is to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.

I said it for the simple fact all of these guys should be put on an even plain.
As scoring and goaltending and defense are ask just as important as the next thing, this team needs someone on the ice to push them.
Hey great you lead the team in scoring, but pushing the next guy is just as important. If you put up 80 points but push the next guy to put up 20 that's 20 more points for the team. Individual accomplishment is great, but it don't do anything if your the only one scoring.
Defense needs someone to push them period....the turnovers in our own end is just nuts....they definitely need a foot in their assess.
I agree with this 100%

No, we haven't. Can you name a player other than those 3 that is a good hockey player and has played more than 60 games for the Flyers since then?

Top Forward Scorers to look at the depth.

13-14: Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Hartnell, Schenn, Read
14-15: Voracek, Giroux, Simmonds, Schenn, Couturier, Read
15-16: Giroux, Simmonds, Schenn, Voracek, Couturier, Raffl
16-17: Voracek, Giroux, Schenn, Simmonds, Couturier, Konecny
17-18: Giroux, Voracek, Couturier, Konecny, Simmonds, Filppula

So your 'secondary scorers' have been

Hartnell - Played on PP1
Schenn - Played on PP1
Read
Raffl
Konecny - Finally a legitimately good secondary scorer
Filppula

That's some atrocious depth. But sure, blame Giroux who shows up in the top 2 all 5 years. I'll give you Konecny and Schenn as the only legitimate scoring depth they've had since before Lavi was fired. So in 5 years they have no scoring depth, mediocre defense, and shit goaltending.
You forgot to put down how many playoff series we won with this group.

Maybe if we have won even one playoff series with these guys i would tend to agree but if we cant even win ONE playoff series its time to shake up the team.

Goaltending gave up 28 goals in 6 playoff games last year

So no? No other good players? But those 3 are supposed to win a playoff round by themselves. K.

Simmonds and Couts out there playing hurt when they were not supposed to be .
Giroux playing the year before last hurt coming back last year and only behind Conor fucking McDavid.
I wonder who they suggest would replace these guys

The thing is, I'm not even opposed to a shakeup. It might even be what they need. But I'm not laying this team's struggles at the feet of the only guys that have been consistently the team's best players for 5+ years. Trade a core piece would be 100% to wake the rest of the team up, not because I thought the core was the problem.

But a shakeup makes the team, on paper, worse. Stripping the C does nothing but piss off Giroux and anyone that's loyal to him (probably Voracek, Simmonds, and Couturier, the other good players) to the point that you have to trade them to fix the poisoned locker room. If you want to shake it up, trade Giroux, don't strip the C. But you better realize what you get back for G is going to be a hell of a let less help this season than G is. Because you sure as hell aren't getting McDavid, Kucherov, Malkin, MacKinnon, Hall, Kopitar, Wheeler, Crosby, Ovechkin or any other high end, franchise cornerstone forwards for Giroux.

And you know what's better than trading G and making your team worse? Firing your coach and getting a different one in there. Zero reduction in talent.

And if you want to shake up the core, the only player to trade is Wayne Simmonds. Last year of his contract, likely not re-signing him anyway. You're trading 6 months of value trading Wayne Simmonds. If you trade Giroux, Voracek, Couturier etc, you're trading away years of highly valuable players because youre mad at the team.

Honestly how can anyone suggest this?

The guy played his heart out last season after finally being healthy. Finished only behind Conor McDavid in points and dragged this team into the playoffs.

This has nothing to do with Giroux . This is all about coaching and system at this point.
He did have a good season last year? Whoopie! Doesn't mean he's a good vocal leader for the team? I have never heard a player say he's a good leader either. I hear tons of captains get praise constantly, not Roo, sorry. Love him as a player but he's not a leader.

Hexy has put together a team full of pussies and it shows on the ice. We dont hit we dont fight we just have no heart. The core of this team needs to be shaken up. Its now the third coach in a row getting fired because of the same thing non motivated players
It's like watching the Dallas Stars last year lol.

Flyers players that have All-Star votes since 2013-14.

Giroux (18, 15, 14)
Ghost (18, 16)
Voracek (18, 15)
Mason (16, 15) - this was surprising haha
Simmonds (16)

Oh look, it's the same guys again. And no 'depth' help for those forwards. Ghost gets added, so they've got another good player. And Mason, who everyone seemed to hate, also had a decent spell.

Colorado did the same with Duchene last year, he was a great player but it was more about him and Roo reminds me of that, also look what the AV's have done since ridding themselves of that cancer.

Also these players were the only standouts on mediocre teams.
