Why is it Giroux's responsibility to motivate the rest of the guys? I get captains have leadership responsibilities etc etc. But shit, get rid of the anchors that cant motivate themselves to play good hockey?

IMO, the motivation thing is an excuse for a lack of talent. And the Flyers have had that since Hextall took over and started rebuilding. Giroux can try to motivate Weise or AMac all he wants, doesn't magically make him a good hockey player.

I believe it was suggested because the team is not motivated and part of a captains job is to motivate the players on his team and its going on the third coach being fired for a non motivated team but the core has stayed the same.

Simmonds who played when he shouldnt have last year.
Couts who had a fucking torn knee in the playoffs
Giroux who finished 2nd in scoring.
Vorachek monster year.

All with a very young D core
and the shittest and least reliable goaltending in the fucking NHL

And absolutely no depth since 2013. When was the last time the Flyers had what you would call a legitimately GOOD 2nd line? One that could provide secondary scoring reliably? Voracek scoring on PP1, while playing on Line 2 doesn't count.

Leino-Briere-Hartnell is the last one I can remember. In 2011.

I understand the frustration and all, but why on earth should G have to motivate any professional hockey player making 7 figures a year. These guys make a killing for a living, it's what they have always dreamed about doing at such an early age. I'm not buying the motivation thing and especially not putting it on G's responsibility to get these guys out of bed and get laced up for a hard day of practice. IMO, this problem is from many factors. Example, special teams play, laziness with the puck, system may not fit for what we have, goaltending, and coaching staff.

That's some atrocious depth. But sure, blame Giroux who shows up in the top 2 all 5 years. I'll give you Konecny and Schenn as the only legitimate scoring depth they've had since before Lavi was fired. So in 5 years they have no scoring depth, mediocre defense, and shit goaltending.

I said it for the simple fact all of these guys should be put on an even plain.
As scoring and goaltending and defense are ask just as important as the next thing, this team needs someone on the ice to push them.
Hey great you lead the team in scoring, but pushing the next guy is just as important. If you put up 80 points but push the next guy to put up 20 that's 20 more points for the team. Individual accomplishment is great, but it don't do anything if your the only one scoring.
Defense needs someone to push them period....the turnovers in our own end is just nuts....they definitely need a foot in their assess.
