I think Giroux could bring a more physical game more often, but it's easy to point to Giroux and say "why can't he be always on like Crosby or Stamkos", but really, do we know that they're always on? We know Giroux has off games because we watch every game he plays. If we watched Stamkos or Crosby every game we'd see the same thing. Instead we see Crosby when he plays (and OWNS) the Flyers. Of course he looks like he's always on when he plays the Flyers, he absolutely dominates them much to our dismay. But at the end of the season Giroux had 13 more points than Crosby did and both of them played 82 games. If Giroux had off games, then you can bet Crosby did too. 13 points wasn't luck or a random monster game, that's a sizeable number. It's enough to say that Giroux was probably 'on' more often than Crosby was last season.

I'm calling fake news if someone is calling out G get the F out of here.... Seriously! A few wanted him traded 2 years ago because he was no good F you too I'm sick of the G hatred like others are so much better. F you!!

I agree with you, only thing I will say is I see more Crosby, Stamko's, Kane etc highlights then Giroux.

Final rant I'd take Halak and Howard over our goalies and they are backups...even Brousoit from the Jets. Hextal is a fuckin goalie and can't figure it out I love him but question this. Meanwhile you guys question G of all guys...fuck me.

Agreed. This is not on G. This dude is as competitive as anyone in the Nhl. He wants to win and will do whatever it takes to get that done. How many elite level, top line centers in this league would move to wing? For most of them, it's not happening. How many of them would then have a career year instead of sulking or complaining? This might be a big zero.

We like to see and hear this from the coach at this stage. There should be a significant response and if not or Hakstol has lost them, he will get fired. If/when that happens, then it's on the players to perform, so we're going to get a lot more out of everyone. Not necessarily a long year, at all.

The season is not a loss if we have to fire Hakstol. Not with this roster. These guys can play, we just haven't seen much of it collectively yet this season.

You should go back and read my comments, I never said G doesn't have the talent, he just seems to take time off and doesn't play as physical as he should, maybe he's scared of getting hurt, who knows. But just because your a good player doesn't necessarily make you a good captain. We were talking about a hypothetical shake up to the team, it's all speculation and opinions.

Furthermore, I'll take Giroux to score first again. He should've had one or two at Boston, but Halak was up to the task. Either way, he clearly led the team in scoring chances and is overdue for some goals.

Yes, we want to see more physicality out of our players, but that's mostly everyone too, not just G. That and despite the captaincy, all of the leadership does not fall directly on his shoulders alone. Plenty of vets on this team, coaches and management. Everyone has to be better and it obviously starts now on home ice.

This collection of players is even more flawed than the one that got Laviolette fired.

Half the team seems to be on one set of directions and the other half on a different set. None of them seem to feel that showing up to play the first period is something they need to do.

It is a disgrace. I can see Ed Snider completely loosing his shit over this kind of play.
The sad thing is that the head coach is going to pay the price. So many of these players are not earning their $$$, not playing within or even outside of the system.

If Hextall isn't making moves soon, the season is over and it will be confirmed that the Corporate Flyers don't care about winning or even trying to win the way that the Snider run Flyers did.

Therien flat out said that it's not the system even on the PK it's the players not executing. We've seen this happen last year it's like a collective slump. Doesn't make any sense as in theory the younger players should be better but they all look like they've regressed. Maybe a coaching change shakes it up or you make drastic line changes...

Maybe, who knows I do know this current rooster, system and everything in between seems to be on the decline and getting worse game by game. If I was Hakstol I'd say fuck it, and just carry on until they fired me, this team isn't going to care anytime soon IMO.

It's disgustingly embarrassing at this point. To lose 1-6 on home ice to a division rival that is chalked full of role players and has no real star talent aside from Barzal and maybe Bailey is an absolute disgrace.

Any of us fans would fire Hakstol immediately based off emotion alone, but Hexy will probably show a lot more patience. How much patience will he show, that is the question.
