Yanks rookie Aaron Judge breaks tooth celebrating walk-off win

Yanks' Judge breaks tooth celebrating walk-off

NEW YORK -- The Yankees' Aaron Judge broke a tooth while celebrating Brett Gardner's game-winning home run in the 11th inning of the team's 6-5 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

In the clubhouse afterward, some Yankees gathered at their lockers to study video of the celebration on their phones as if it were the Zapruder film. There was no consensus as to what exactly happened, but replays appeared to show Gardner's helmet ending up in the scrum and knocking the 6-foot-7 Judge back like an uppercut.

Video replays were not conclusive, but it seemed as if the helmet was on the back of catcher Austin Romine as he jumped up and down with Gardner.

The force of Romine's leap caused the helmet to strike Judge's mouth. Judge, whose gap tooth is already one of his trademarks, brought his left hand to his mouth and quickly receded to the team's locker room.

Well I've officially turned on the notifications for all Rays and Yankees games. Price gets booed tonight before he throws a pitch.

A's are asking for way too much. Cashman should tell them to fuck off.

interesting stat on CC sabathia:

OPS allowed by stage of game

Pitches 1-25: .809

Pitches 26-50: .608

Pitches: 51-75: .510

Pitches 76-100: .793

thats nuts for a guy we all thought was dead.

Exactly. The A's are crazy

Cant blame them, there are plenty of suitors for Gray, and its not like they cant just trade him this offseason, or even next season

But they also do have to worry about him incurring another arm injury

The Yankees should never pitch to Evan Longoria again, I think he is like 35-70 vs CC in his career (2-2 last night with a HR)

And he just crushes the Yankees in general

I wonder what happens with CC at the end of the season, Id love for the Yankees to bring him back on a club friendly one year deal, but at this rate, he may be getting decent 2 year offers

@DirtDirtDirt what did you think about Girardi decision to pull CC?

I actually liked it this time, and Im always critical of his pulling guys too soon

He was losing it in that 5th, although those 2 balls werent really hit hard

But I could see him protecting a 3-2 lead with the pen they now have, Chad Green was just overdue for a stinker, almost felt that one coming

I think he was almost at the 90 pitch mark, so chances are the 5th would have been his last inning anyway
