i think i caught that movie on cable TV one time.

i laughed at dan akroyd's office when he opened a suitcase with nothing but paperwork and a tube TV monitor with the stock prices on it :laugh3:

Youngsters today just can't appreciate the classics.

A sweep either way is unlikely, and every team has some dirtbags in it's fan base.

As much as I dislike NYC teams I would never say they have a monopoly on that.

The Yankees are rumored to be on the verge of making several changes to their scouting and player development departments, I think they finally smell the stench coming from their farm system.

Kirk Lazarus: I know who I am. I'm the dude playin' the dude, disguised as another dude!

ok, no idea on that movie.

but you inadvertently sent me to the link of the new avengers movie. i'm psyched!

and i'm confused again because the quicksilver character is already in post production for x-men dofp. he is also being listed as a main character in the new avengers movie. (?) not the same actor, the same character.

Do you think he is even worth the qualifying offer at the moment? I myself do not.

No way, but if he accepts, you're only on the hook for a year, If he declines, you can tell your fan base, "We tried", while stockpiling another draft pick.

Clay's injury is the kind one can never be absolutely certain he's over.

This Red Sox fan would much rather have Clay pitching than Dubrount if Clay is even close to full health.

As long as nobody tries to sell this as good business, then, fine. Too bad honesty costs too much in this world, huh?

"We don't want him, but, we want to land on this mess as softly and as easily as possible, all while giving us an out with our fans".

It's NOT a Giants thing, but a baseball thing now. And, it sucks!

Do you think it played any part that Seattle could have been the front runner? The Giants figure that if he tests FA, Seattle gives him the minimum and SF gets a second rounder instead of a first? Or are draft picks not really that big of a deal?

More so now than ever. Usually there are a finite amount of "top guys" in the draft.

Also with guys staying with teams longer etc development is important.

Draft picks are a big deal, and Seattle's pick is protected, but a pick is a pick. Second rounders can still be good players. Pedroia was a 2nd rounder. You still get to say that you tried to keep him. No sane fan should question why the Giants would want to cut his salary, and only offer him 1 year. As I write that, it dawns on me that he actually DID take a salary cut, as he was making $20mm each of the last 2 years.

Maybe the Giants will offer Zito a new multi-year pact for old times sakes. You know, he helped them in the playoffs last season. That is worth about $25mm over 2 years, right?
