Not that I'm an expert, I also thought RG3 was the real deal. But injuries had a lot more to do with his situation.

You could certainly say the same for Mariota, coupled with poor OL play. Mariota has had his share of poor play as well, but neither RG3 nor Mariota had an ideal situation, when compared with another QB who has shined like Mahomes.

Yeah...but the obvious talent gap in arm talent between Mahomes and the others mentioned here is huge.

Of course. Having said that, I think Mariota could have had a Dalton, Flacco like career with better support. Not HOF/Pro Bowl numbers, but certainly not a bust.

Will be interesting to see what kind of deal Mariota gets next year. He can probably be a starter on several teams.

Tannehill is making me eat my words on post #9!

He's been a lightning rod for that team. Winners in 6 of the last 7 games, and 30 or more points the last 4 games and two with 40+ points.

Idk if they can sustain that pace over the next 3. They get HOU starting with this week, the Saints, and HOU again to close.

Should be a fun finish.

While we are all impressed with this, maybe we should pump the brakes a little. Lots of QBs go on nice runs only to fall back. The story has a ways to go. Not saying he will fail or anything like that but we will see. It isn't hard to be an upgrade over what Mariota was bringing.
