Eh well atleast it was a pitcher by the time we see what we have in Dunn, Gilbert and Sheffield, Hill and Kirby will be on their way ready for the league in 2-3 years.

He is like one of those players in fantasy baseball that spams everyboby with trade offers . Brags about trades instead of making team more able to compete .

Funny because that is me in fantasy baseball. Others hate me because I make a 100 trades a year. The big difference...is that I win!!! :)

Just look at the difference between the Mariners and real organizations. The Brewers were in desperate need of a catcher much like the Mariners were in desperate need of relief pitching in the mid 90’s. The Brewers gave up a fringe prospect while the Mariners gave up three top 10 guys.

I often hype Evan White as a John Olerud type showing power isn't essential for 1B. I think of Olerud as a great hitter for average with average power. The thing I found shocking was that Olerud only hit .300 or better 4 times in 16 seasons. He hit 20 or more homers 5 times with 24 being his high.

If White can be the next Olerud, I will be very happy with that and it is more than possible. Add the gold glove defense like Olerud and something very positive might be coming for once with the M's.

Yeah the Brewers were desperate for a catcher and this was really the best we could do? I think the pick is more valuable then the player we got. Either way it would be nice for once if Dipoto was the one holding the cards instead of trying to get rid of guys as fast as possible

Maybe I'm just high on Narvaez, but I was really, really disappointed about this trade. Brewers don't have the best farm system but the Mariners definitely could've done better than this.

On the bright side, apparently that pick is going to be part of a very deep draft class!

Ugh...

Most scouts believe that Evan White will immediately be a gold glove candidate at first. Even if his bat is just average, I think it's good value for the Mariners. If he matches high expectations it's an absolute heist.

Screen Shot 2019-12-07 at 1.58.44 PM.png I have had time to digest the Narvaez trade and it is still confusing to me. I get he is considered a bad defensive catcher, but for some reason they didn't seem to even consider he was our best DH based on offensive WAR (and the naked eye). He had a 10.2 offensive WAR and next was Fat Boy at 7.7. He will only be 28 next season (Voggie will be 27) and is making very little.

Narvaez splits were .227 vs LH, .289 vs RH
Vogelbach splits .161 vs LH, .225 vs RH

Was the Comp pick worth settling for a far worse DH? I guess the answer is simple; we are the Mariners and we aren't playing to win any time soon so nothing really matters. Thanks DIPoto.

You shut your mouth about the greatest collegiate player in any sport in history. Edit...Jackie Robinson has an argument for 1B.

I mean with all the excuses of not get minor league AB’s, Johnny O would’ve been the greatest hitter of all time right?

I loved Olerud even if he was a kitty cat. I want White to be Olerud 2.0. If White can be a .275 hitter with Olerud power and glove, I am happy as can be...until DIPoto trades him for another utility player that hits .223.

Jedi. Sticks with..his guys he likes
So white would have to really bomb out..to get traded
Like Ackley

But if he starts hitting below 200
They will just send him to tacoma...for now..

Ill allow it even though college baseball should have every award named after that college god. College baseball isn’t even a thing has Olerud not shown up and prove that you can be drafted without being a legacy like nutnag Bonds.

Ya I really don't care where guys went to college, but Olerud was one of the all-time great two way players. He didn't have MLB stuff as a pitcher but man he made the most of what he had on the mound in college. He is definitely on my all-time Mariners list.

This is a move The M's MUST make. Pick up some prospects by taking on WM's contract. Cut him later if you don't want him but buy some top prospect(s).

This is a stupid move for the M's to make . So they will probably do it .

No it is not a stupid move for M's to make. Myers is just salary on the books which they have the room for. The gain is prospects attached to the deal for us to take on Myers. These are the deals we need to be making since Dipshit won't go and add real talent.

Mariners are under $90mil in payroll currently so I dont see why they wouldnt be able to make this move. It is a commitment though looking at the contract. I dont think I've ever seen a contract this backloaded. Not saying I'm against but it would take some decent prospects which I know the Padres have. But I know Dipoto hates holding the cards in deals.
