In an interview he tells the reporter " it's not his job to mentor rookie QB Lock!"
Joe continues to say " Look I have more things to worry about, winning games is the most important thing as for time constraints and all of that stuff I'm not worried about developing guys or stuff like that."

This isn't rare. Eli said the same a couple of years back, but then couldn't have been more helpful to the backups. We all know about Farve and Rodgers. The SportsHoopla was always that Brady tells his back ups they get one question a week. Montana and Young. Alex Smith seems the big exception a couple of years back

I think since the SB win, the BAL franchise tried to purge the team of some vets and that had some impact on Flacco and the OFC in general...OL issues, they struggled to replace Ray Rice for a yr or 2, obviously never put a solid WR 1 & 2 tandem together....with that, they still had 2 top 10 OFCs from '13 to '17.

People seem to be counting the games that Flacco will start this yr before being pulled for Lock. If DEN puts players around him (they have some solid pcs) and not ask Flacco to carry the team...DEN can stay in the hunt, if so he might keep the job all season.

FWIW...I don't blame Flacco...he wasn't brought in to mentor Lock, he was brought in to be a stop gap QB...period.
Flacco thinks he came to be the man.

Regardless of what everyone thinks of Joe Flacco, it looks like he's solidly in place to start according to the Broncos. Of course that could change after training camp but I know the Broncos really want him to start for a year if possible.

I know Flacco has been overrated for his entire career. I've never been a Flacco fan but when you're trotting out Siemian, Keenum, Osweiller and Lynch....it's hard not to see it as a slight upgrade. Minimally, he buys the team some time to get Lock ready. We'll see how this all goes.

Flacco is still a very good qb, and when you consider what he had to deal with here in Baltimore for 11 yrs, you would surely think had he been on a better led team, he would have at least a few more SB appearances....Started as a rookie, took us to the AFCCG...Made the playoffs 4 yrs straight with patched up over the hill wr's and rookie busts...Won a SB with no star wr's and 1 star rb….Matched the GOAT 11-0 TD's to SB47 MVP.....Went through 4 OC's in his first 5 yrs because well, Harboob is terrible at choosing coaches....I could go on but, last yr he went 12 for 12 in the red zone to start the season until the oline broke down and he was injured...Harbs moved onto Buckwheat to save his hide and threw Joe under the bus...
Trust me, Joe is a winner, and he is all class...He will help Lock as much as possible, but what he meant was that mentoring is not his priority or responsibility....He didn't say he would not advise the rook....
I think you make the playoffs with Joe and he's not called flip switch Joe for nothing, the playoffs make him hit another gear...So who knows !!!

Now that Flacco is gone from our division, I will admit, I hated facing him.

Let's play a quick game. I'm going to name a QB and you try and guess who his mentor was before looking at the answer

Peyton Manning................................................................................................Kelly Holcomb
Dan Marino........................................................................................................David Woodley
Joe Montana.................................................................................................... Steve DeBerg
John Elway........................................................................................................Steve DeBerg

Either Steve DeBerg is the greatest mentor of all time, or mentorship like a college degree, doesn't really mean as much as good coaching, and an Offensive Line that doesn't let you get sacked into the turf deeper than Jimmy Hoffa, just ask Josh Rosen.

The 2 most important things for Drew Lock are that he's getting placed into an Offensive system that made Nick Mullens look like a good QB for part of the season last year, and that Denver spent the 2 picks before him on a great TE in Noah Fant and an Offensive Line help in Dalton Risner.

And not what Joe Flacco has to say to him on the way from the cafeteria to the showers.

When was flacco good? His numbers arent

His best season was when Kubiak was his Offensive Coordinator and Flacco put up almost 4,000 yards with 27 TD's and only 12 picks. And it just so happens that the Broncos new OC runs a similar Offense to that one. Compare that to Keenum's numbers of last year of almost 4,000 yards but 18 TD's and 15 picks. So you tell me if a QB throwing 9 more TD's and 3 less INT's would've helped Denver last year be better than 6-10.

im not saying he wont help denver, compared to what you have had. Ive agreed with you there.I am saying hes been pretty damn pedestrian in his career. He had 1-2 good seasons, and a GREAT 4 game run hes lived off of. Hes been bottom 3rd of the leageu

Joe Flacco Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com

also the season you are referring to, was in 2014. Its not like that was recent, or joe hasnt aged or been qquite hurt since then, or followed up that season with another good one

Again, he should improve what denver has had

True the season was 2014 but that was his only year under Kubiak because he left for Denver the very next year. We don't know how Flacco would do with another year under the guy he had his best season with. The Ravens completely changed their Offensive scheme when Kubiak left and they brought in Marc Tressman.

While not all on 1 person or coach with Kubak the Ravens went 10-6 that year, the next year with Tressman they went 5-11 and Flacco's numbers were about 2,800 yards with 14 TD's and 12picks. Now obviously Flacco isn't amazing because usually top QB's don't drastically drop off when they get a new OC but playing in a scheme he wasn't fit to run definitely had an impact.

He did but if you average out what his stats would’ve been if he kept the exact same pace he would’ve been around 4,400 yards but with 22 TD’s and 19 INT’s.

Also out of his 11 seasons he’s only played in less than 16 games twice, so he’s had some injury history but he’s definitely pretty consistent.

Hey considering the best quarterback Denver’s had since Manning retired was Case Keenum I’ll give less than mediocre Joe a shot.
