When did Florida become Michigan? Don’t look at what we’ve done lately. Look at what we did 30 years ago.Sure they were. Go back and look at who UF played OOC in the 80s.
my thoughts exactlywithout going through the 13 pages isn’t there a running thing about florida playing very few out of conference opponents outside state of florida in like 20 years?
I live around a bunch of agnut, rusty cow, red fader and land thieve fans. (and several horny toad fans as well) All of 'em bitch and complain about their beloved teams including an FCS team in their season ticket package. Hell, they even complain about having lower level G5 teams like my Miners in their home game package. But they still keep buying season tickets...and still keep bitching. They say it won't change until the BMDs are the ones that complain. The SEC has changed the money and perception, I think.
Seems to be working.
Hell, the SEC has been manipulating schedules since before they expanded.
It's nothing new really.
Its unfortunate that the Florida athletic department has fallen on hard times. Thank God for the B1G, BigXii, and pac12s strong leadership to ensure programs can thrive financially under a 9 game conference schedule.
That’s crazy.

You have four, FOUR, non conference games, and have had it for years now. Teams with 3 non conference games seem to have the ability to schedule 2 non conference P5 opponents. If you don’t want to that’s fine, but don’t sit there and tell us we can either play more conference games (which Florida is against) or you can play more “out of the state games” which Florida has played one of since 1991 and that was at a neutral site location. Florida is doing neither of those things. But go ahead and repeat how Florida was all for 6 conference games back when your player’s parents were still in elementary school. That was the last time UF had the scheduling flexibility needed to schedule those games. I’ve laid it out several times but I’ll be happy to do so as many more times as it takes for you to grasp the basics of scheduling.
Cold hard reality is EVERY P5 school has the ability to schedule two P5 OOC teams every year whether they play 9 conference games or 8. They can fill those 3-4 open slots however they please. They CHOOSE not to schedule two P5s. And when they CHOOSE not to, they can rationalize that choice in a million different ways that makes it look like something or someone else is causing them to make that choice. But, it still comes down to the cold hard reality that they flat don't want to schedule two P5s OOC.You have four, FOUR, non conference games, and have had it for years now. From 2011 to 2024, Auburn will play Florida as many times as Florida has played Michigan the last three.
True, but you rarely see fans stating blatantly false things like Deathroll was posting. Florida is not for expanding the conference schedule now nor are they pushing to play more “out of state” games.Cold hard reality is EVERY P5 school has the ability to schedule two P5 OOC teams every year whether they play 9 conference games or 8. We played Michigan more times in the last 7 seasons than we played South Carolina. We played Clemson more times in the last 3 seasons than we played Vandy in the last decade.
Somehow, I really don’t give a shit. Not really sure why “Texas” and Michigan fans care so much. Seems they should care more about getting their shit pushed in by OU and tOSU annually.
Its not that we're close to the red. Its that football must financially support all the other programs on campus with the exception of men's basketball. In addition, we are in the midst of finally catching up (a decade late) in the facilities arms race. That requires an expenditure of over $200 million. About half of that has been raised by contributions so far but considering a home game generates about $3 mil, why would or should the athletic department turn that down? It makes no sense.
When was the last time that the Gators played an OOC game (regular season) out of the state of Florida? Was it in 1991?
"The last time Florida played a non-conference game outside of
the state of Florida, in the regular season, was 1991 (they lost to Syracuse)".
Yes, 1991.

Football does financially support the other programs there is no disputing that. But using that as an excuse is lame as hell for this argument over scheduling. Since the SWC broke up the SEC has the easiest advantage of never getting close to the red as the expenditures their athletic department faces is minimal compared to every other P5 or G5 conferences.
You're right sorry about that. That was the first OOC regular season game that the Gators played out of the state of Florida since 1991. Thanks for the correction.Nope! Michigan in Dallas last year.
