Of course it isn't about the cantaloupe. It is about power and control. That being said...end of the world, no more drilling for oil and refining of gas...food is a far greater commodity because gas will run out.
But how is an entire week's tribute equal to 12 melons? A few weeks back they were bringing an entire flatbed of supplies. After that, they had a packed up SUV. Now they bring a flatbed to deliver a couple bags of groceries?

you can still obtain power and control over someone without pissing away what little fuel is left on earth on going to pickup 12 cantaloupes.

regardless, i don't think there would be any gas worth a shit left anyways after all this time. maybe there is some secret gas fairy in this world i don't know about.....or the more likely scenario.....it would just be hard to write this shit and not include automobiles so lets just not think about it.

there is also the rational that this is a fucking show about dead people walking around so the gas fairy thing may have legs.

I actually kinda liked this episode. But Morgan pissed me off (again). For him to take his vengeance out on .Richard in front of the saviors was stupid and risky.

I get it that he was convinced by Richard's act and that he was taking ownership of the plan. But to tell the Saviors Richards plan was super stupid. He was telling them that there is major resentment brewing in the Kingdoms upper echelon and that some are willing to play some really advanced chess to get out of the current situation. For the Saviors to buy his "we get it" speech would require an inhuman amount of naïveté.

I have no prob with Morgan killing Richard. But it should have been done back at the kingdom or at least away from the Saviors. Don't air your dirty laundry in public. Letting the Saviors see Zeke essentially bow to them and accepting Bens death over a single melon would have sufficed, I think.

i'm just glad we seem to finally be getting this shit on the road.....even though i think we all know this shit isn't truly going to get started until ep 1 of next season at the earliest. that should piss everyone off enough again to garner a little attention through the summer.

The weirdest part for me was that nobody restrained Morgan when he was murdering one of their own right in front of them.
2 explanations for that...

1) As mentioned on TTD, the Savior lieutenant told everyone to back off

2) Morgan had snapped. He was a major pacifist who was killing someone with his bare hands. Too shocking to comprehend.

A lot of the talk between the Saviors and the Kingdom was about the tension between the groups. Killing Richard (who's been labeled a troublemaker) might help.

Of course wouldn't the Saviors just assume everyone resents them?

Why?

Seriously, for a start, why didn't Zeke and his kingdom just call those guys bluffs and open fire to begin with?

They woulda blown them to...Kingdom Come! :pound::pound::pound:

I would have loved it but wiping out a small group of saviors would be dumb. It would just unleash the whole group on the Kingdom. The Kingdom need to do that on a time of their choosing.

And that counts for a lot right now.

Who else is interesting?

Whether you love or hate him, Negan certainly is.

Dwight? Yes. Big storyline seems to be on the horizon.

Sasha? Yes. Her character has been surprisingly well fleshed-out over the past few years; the end is coming and she is a capable enough actor to make it memorable.

Rosita? No. Oh, my little avocado...I had such high hopes for you...and then you had to ruin it all by speaking.

Michonne? No. Currently, her role is to shout out "Rick!" at the appropriate times.

Daryl? No. Ugh, don't even wanna talk about it. Thank God that bike show tanked.

Carol? Yes...with severe reservations; not a fan of the 'crisis of faith' thing right now, but I'm hoping for a payoff.

Morgan? Yes. I know I'm in the minority here, but I find his character to be one of the most well written ones of the show and I am expecting the payoff to be huge.

Tara? Lolololol! Tara must die.

Zeke? No. He was for a moment, but has quickly become a cartoon. He gets saving points for the cool tiger.

Jerry? Yes. Jerry is da bomb.

There's my take, what's yours?

I haven't watched last night's episode, but on Saturday I watched a couple episodes to catch up. My take is that this show is a complete pile of shit now. All those emotional scenes in the last episodes, with the slow music and melodrama had me pissed.

Do you think the folks running the show realize it sucks balls now? Do you think they're going to try to wrap up the series quickly in an effort to salvage its legacy, or just ride the cash cow straight into the ground?

If Richard had killed Morgan and pinned the whole thing on Morgan, would it have been believable to the Saviors? Maybe. Maybe not.

I don't know if the Saviors have a book on Morgan, but watching one of them kill their own might just be enough to convince the Saviors that they are docile. If you think about it, Richard was the only aggressor in the Kingdom's meeting party that had previously had issues with these drops. Eliminating him probably looks good in the eyes of the Saviors.

Other than that, I kept thinking of Batman whenever Carol was onscreen.
'She's the hero TWD deserves.... but not the one it needs right now...'
She'll do what needs to be done, because she can take it.

Of course there is tension. But to tell them the lengths one of their own was willing to go to initiate a fight? That SHOULD be a major red flag.

I have heard the rumors that Riggs wants to leave the show to go to school, but I have no idea how the show will deal with his future arcs without Carl.

Riggs leaving would be career suicide. He needs to ride this out for all its worth.

I agree that Coral should stay with the show for as long as they'll have him, but I don't think leaving would be career suicide. I think growing up to be an average-looking, shitty-acting annoying fuck is where he committed career suicide.

Still trying to get Morgan... Is he actually understanding now that they need to fight the saviors? Did he kill Richard to buy time?

Because otherwise it makes VERY little sense to go spill the beans to Carol, because he HAS to know that telling her what happened to Alexandria is going to set her off...

Morgan has snapped. No question.

He was sharpening Eastman's staff, after all.

H O L Y F U C K the scene where Michone thought Rick was lunch was stupid as shit, is this the jump the shark moment???

Nope, that happened sometime a few seasons ago, but I have a feeling that the scene is the one where a lot of fans realize that it jumped the shark.

Also, could the deer look more fake...

Yes, if I'd have drawn it directly on the film with a brown crayon.

Yeah maybe he shouldn't have gone into the details but Morgan had to explain strangling on their own with his bare hands, so he needed a convincing story.. I still think that little uprisings are part of the territory.

:SIGH:

Horrible episode.

The deer special effects might just have been the worst SFX yet on the show. Sooooo cringe-worthy. And why in the hell does Rick, in the middle of clearing walkers, decide that that is the perfect time to go deer hunting?

And me hate Jadus. Jadus group talk dumb.

How about that scene where the chubby dyke was telling the baby about Oceanside? I wanted to punch myself in the face for watching it.

Sure, if you are going to do it in front of the Saviors, you gotta tell them SOMETHING.

That's why I said he should have done it after the meeting. Don't air your dirty laundry...
