Also, anytime we get to complaining about our bullpen (me included), let's all look at the Giants bullpen. They just blew their 8th save in 12 chances in September. Their BP is so bad that they have now tried 5 different relievers at closer over the last 2 weeks, and every last one of them has blown at least 1 save.

Oh, and Madison Bumgarner is a class A asshole. His inability to control his temper and his frequency of yelling "f you" to opposing batters now has him as a proud member of the Grant Balfour-Jon Papelbon-Yordano Ventura-Ken Giles Headcase All-Stars in my book.

Bumgarner is a loose cannon it appears, however I think that fucking idiot Donaldson was way more out of line w the umpire than Madison was w Puig. IDC what you think of an umpires call but the way Donaldson talked to that ump was over the top. Hope he never gets a call in his favor ever again. " What the fuck you POS that was outside you"......... Just watch the replays and decide for yourself. That guy is a total shitbag

When was the last time we went 9 innings, used 3 pitchers, and didn't walk a batter?

For that matter, when was the last time we went 9 innings, regardless of the number of pitchers and didn't walk one?

That was some of the sorriest umpiring I have ever seen last night. Some of the proof is that was Moreland's 1st ejection in his career. And that is all on DB. He kept it going and was bound and determined to throw Moreland out of the game. I was reading an article from the SF newspaper and they even mentioned the pitch was way outside. On top of that it is only a ground rule double if the ball is lodged and cannot be gotten out. That was not the case and no one on the Rangers threw their hands up to say so.

I saw that. That whole team is full of them. Starting with their manager.

Pitches way outside ended up getting called strikes all night long, until the 8th inning. Then the zone tightened up considerably.

I wish beyond all that is holy that there were a transparent system for judging refs. I wish a sabre-metric stat or two were built around how shitty they call strikes or stats kept about how often they are overturned in a replay. There should be public shaming for them, public accountability.

Anyone else watch this team and think of the scene from Dumb and Dumber:

"Oh hey guys, big gulps huh? Well cool, see ya later".

Just nonchalant, kinda obvious, kind of awkward because at the end of the game you know that the previous 25 or 26 outs didn't mean a thing...we are GOING to win before the 27th happens.

I wish there was too. I still say there could be something put in place to bring about a "Learned Behavior". Kind of like getting to a point where you have been trained so much on what is a strike and a ball. And there needs to be some kind of policing of these umps. They have very little worry of any consequences to their actions.

I am not a Puig fan but I wish he would have gone off on him.

Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo, sidelined since mid-August with a fractured left forearm, could be ready to return to the Texas Rangers by the start of the playoffs.

T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports Choo should take batting practice with the big league club as soon as this weekend and then face live pitching in the instructional league. If all goes well, Choo "could return at some point during the postseason, possibly at the beginning."

It would be good if he could get some ABs with the Rangers the last week of the season.

FWIW, Texas owns the tiebreaker with both Cleveland and Boston. We won the season series with Cleveland and tied with Boston but win on the next tiebreaker record within division (thanks Astros).

And I know we are going to win the AL West so I'd rather see Seattle beat the crap out of Toronto the next few days and bury those guys. The division is ours so nothing to worry about.

Sure hope Banister cares about home field. But something tells me he doesn't.

I feel so dirty cheering for the Blue Jays. I really, really do. They are FAR and away my most hated team. I truly despise them... worse than Houston, worse than Oakland, worse than the Yankees, worse than the Red Sox, and worse than the Angels.

As I was sitting there watching the end of that game, I kept getting caught up in the moment, forgetting why I was watching, and rooting for the BJ's to lose. I had to keep reminding myself that them winning helped us.

You should have seen the in-game commentary going on from both the Blue Jays fans and bloggers... nothing but bashing the USA and arguing every last pitch that was called against them. That whole franchise and fanbase are lowlife trash in every sense of the word. I don't normally wish injury on other players or people, but I absolutely do on Donaldson and Bautista.
That was the way I felt too. I actually wondered if I should go take a bath after Toronto won. I hate rooting for them.

Clinching will be very sweet, but I am mainly concerned with keeping pace with both Boston and Cleveland so we can stay ahead of them. Home-field advantage throughout would be great.

Especially considering how much better Perez seems to pitch at home. As of now you've got to think he's leading for the last rotation spot.
