Not only will opposing fans want to travel to that game above any other road game, but how many tickets will be given out by the casinos? That mix will make it the oddest stadium in the league in terms of crowd noise. Those getting comps or tickets as prizes aren't likely to be rabid local fans.

It will make for strange TV, but will still have plenty of butts in the seats which is all the owners and league probably care about.

I know they will get a lot of visitors going to games, but do enough people live in the Las Vegas area? honest question, I don't know.

And when they hold the in-game contest for the lucky winner that gets a free night at the bunny ranch with the cheerleader of your choice you can bet the crowd will perk up...

I disagree with this. Raider fans can and will travel there. It's not far at all.

As it is, if you are ever at an LA area airport on a Sunday, you'll see a ton of Raider fans taking a day trip to Oakland for the game. I don't see why Vegas would be any different, except they'd probably fly in on Saturday and stay overnight.

You are looking at it from wrong direction. It is not about home crowd showing up as much as away crowd actually wanting to go to the game. Most people aren't going to want to fly to Oakland for a game but Vegas, they might.

It is the away crowd having more incentive to go. And with 3rd party ticket vendors, getting tickets won't be difficult. At the very least I can see increased competition over tickets than other locations see.

How will it fail simply because they will have a more transient fan base? They may not get much of a home field advantage, but they will have butts in the seats and merchandising.

What is Vegas known for?

EDM Clubs where crazy shit can happen, Hookers and Gambling on Sports.

Can you imagine Mel Kiper talking about character risk players going to Vegas?

This is a 30 for 30 investigation just waiting to happen.

They should do okay in the regard...Roughly 2.1mil metro which would put them in the ball park of Charlotte, KC and Nashville, bigger than JAX, BUF, GB.

They might fail, but it won't be because of the ills of Vegas. If they win enough games...hell the old So Cal Raider fans will make the 2 hour ride 8 times a year.

I'm not worried about people in the seats. The NFL is a national game. The Rams, for example, could have done just fine in STL for a long time and the Jags will do just fine in Florida for a long time.

I'm worried about the image issue. The NFL and Las Vegas attempt to draw completely different images of themselves. Raiders to Vegas is the opposite of 'Protect the Shield'

I'm not disagreeing that there will still be plenty of Raiders fans at the games. What I"m talking about though is there are teams out there that something like 97% of the crowd are fans of the home team. Vegas will not be one of those places. So they will never have a crowd like that of KC or Seattle where the noise alone makes it difficult for the away team to operate and communicate.

I think the Raiders will maintain home field advantage in Las Vegas. Yes, there will definitely be fans from opposing teams, but most people forget that there are Raiders fans all over the west coast. Raiders fans are also the same type of people that make multiple trips to Vegas as well. I believe that's why Mark Davis wants to the move the team there, he gets a brand new stadium and keeps his west coast fan base.

Hell any true Raiders fan knows that Al Davis loved going to Vegas and lounging by the poolside.

Read this article below from 2014:
Al Davis envisioned Las Vegas Raiders

Mark may just be fulfilling his fathers dream. People back east just don't appreciate Vegas the same way as people in the western United States do.

I'm not saying they won't still have a bit of a home field advantage. I just don't think we will see anything near what the Seahawks or Chiefs have for home crowd noise. I look at it kind of like what Dallas has right now where the stadium and desination make it easy for away fans to want to come to the game and so we see the crowd maybe being only 75% Oakland fans and at least 25% being away fans. And as others have pointed out that the casinos will use tickets to the game as an incentive to get people to come to their casinos so might even have like 10% of the fans just being football fans that got free tickets for whatever reason.

Yeah it will be a more neutral field for sure. I haven't been to a Dolphins game in years, but remember when they'd play the Bills and especially the Jets it had a neutral at best situation.

The joke for the Broncos and a lot of fans is that San Diego is like an extra home game. I remember watching last year and seeing about half the stadium being Orange. They are another place that is hurt a bit by the place they live. Of all the cities that the Broncos play in honestly San Diego is probably my favorite. So if I'm going to an away game that is the one I can convince my wife is a good one that she gets to go somewhere she loves to visit. There are just some stadiums/cities that set up that way and Vegas would definitely fall into that category.
