Better have a dome on that puppy, with August and September highs approaching 120
I did read somewhere that it will be retractable.

It looks like it'll make about a mile triangle between Hockey, Football, & Baseball... which will hopefully pull people away from the strip (which is turning into Time Square West)...

It looks like they've taken a big step...

Oh wow. About time. It’s amazing that Oakland couldn’t get the new stadium approved there. I think it was 2007 that they had Cisco Field all designed and ready to go by the waterfront. It would have been beautiful, too. This will be a big win for Vegas.

Will they keep the “Athletics” or will they rebrand? I don’t get the sense the East bay cares enough about the brand to want to keep hold of it, so I suspect they will in fact be the Las Vegas A’s.

Perhaps a slight rebrand to the Las Vegas Aces?

They better keep the Athletics name... It started in Philly in 1901 and survived the move to KC in '54 and Oakland in '67... I can't imagine them changing the name.

I wouldn't mind if they got rid of the green...

I agree. I think the name is more vagabond than associated to a specific city at this point.

And I hate that puke green color scheme. But it has been around since the beginning, so if they keep the “Athletics” and the elephant, they will almost certainly keep the green/gold color scheme. Kinda works for Vegas anyway.

And the Las Vegas A’s first move is going to be signing Ohtani.

I put money on it he won’t.

I won't put money on it but the Dodgers seem to have cleared some payroll to the detriment of the 2023 season for some reason.

Dodgers had to reset the luxury tax this year. It’s a transition year for them. They’ll have plenty to spend over the Winter.

By the time the ball park is built, he'll be two years into an eleven year $500m contract.
The stadium shit depends since we don’t have all of the facts. Sure as hell would be hot, but the A’s could play in the minor league park until it is built. I was kidding about Ohtani but if I were his agent I’d actually consider it if he were given equity in the franchise and or depending on the financials the A’s will have with Vegas equity in the ballpark.

Sure, Seattle did the same thing and made terrible trades to get him, even whored out Ichiro. No predictions on where he will go but two teams I would put money on he won’t sign with is the Dodgers and the Yankees.

I am not certain, but I believe that is not allowed in the current CBA. They could do some kind of handshake agreement, but they wouldn’t be able to put anything in writing.

He seems to prefer “smaller” teams and he has indicated he doesn’t want a team that already has a strong link to Japan.

If those assumptions are accurate, than maybe the Padres, A’s, Rays…

The Las Vegas Aces are the defending champs of the WNBA!

Yeah I’m not 100%, I just heard Dombrowksi on the MLB network talking about how organizations can get Ohtani if they give up equity, no idea so if it isn’t allowed then strike my remark. But like I said, it was a joke about Vegas getting him.
