He can go to 113 teams in the college football world if he wants to play this year, or he can sit out a year.

As is the norm.

He's not getting any special waiver is what this is about. And it looks to me like him and his mom are trying to use the media to get their way, so fuck em even more.

He was a significant players on our team and waits until 3 months before the season starts to transfer, after the Alabama staff has trained him during the spring, spent the resources for that, gameplanned this season expecting to be here, and then he just bails on them. And the reward for that is supposed to be Alabama saying - oh yeah sure, you just screwed over the team but here you can go play for another SEC team right away.

If anything Saban is being pretty generous allowing him to transfer to any non SEC school after this. He completely blindsided everyone.

Oh, and it's looking like his claims of having his stuff thrown in the trash and not being able to use the facilities is bullshit. Here's a picture of him working out with the DB's after all the stuff supposedly happened.

so what you are saying is -- it is completely fine for Alabama to cut ties with a player if Saban deems him unworthy of renewing their 1 year scholarship, but if a player is unhappy and wants to cut ties, it is about the resources and game planning?

and just an FYI, you can post a pic taken at anytime to try and save face in the situation and say it was taken after it happened. When the account is called 'built by Bama' @tide recruits101 -- it is quite obvious that is what they are doing.

Chris Black wouldn't be getting playing time, so it makes sense.

Mo would get playing time, and is screwing the team over by doing this. Why should Saban cut him a favor beyond allowing him to go anywhere other than an SEC team.

If people want to change the rules, then change the rules. Otherwise, as this is what happens the majority of time, I'm going to think it's just people crying because it's Saban.

It's not about changing the rules. But Saban is proving that players aren't all treated the same. Allowing one player to transfer within the sec to a team you aren't garunteed to play and not allowing another to transfer within the SEC to a team you aren't garunteed to play is a double standard. No matter how talented they are.

Sure some other teams do it. But this thread was created about Saban and has an Alabama fan defending it as it being right.

STOP THE PRESSES...Ralphie is unaware that life isn't fair.

No two players at any program are treated the same...double, triple and quadruple standards exist at every program. Pretending otherwise would be disingenuous at best.

And it is not some other teams do it, every team does it. The fact that there are NCAA rules governing transfers means that every team does it, whether they have transfers or not.

Special snowflakes can say whatever they want. Doesn't mean they get to do whatever they want.

Crying? Don't you mean laughing? I've said from the beginning -- EVERY HC in college football is cut throat at a top school and ONLY has their own best interest on their mind.

Saban will stand at a podium and scream how he only wants "a level playing field" -- then he grants a grad transfer for one player and he won't for another player? Or does "the level playing field" not include his own players?

I love the hypocritical stance of the fans too. They preach about how Bama is one year scholarship and Saban can cut a player at any time and they are fine with that. Yet if a player decides, he'd rather spend his final year of eligibility playing at Georgia -- you have to sit out a year, even though we granted another a waiver not to sit out a year at another SEC school. When it is -- Smith -- you've spent time and resources on him. When it was a transfer to Mizzou -- it was fine, even though they spent time and resources on him, because he wouldn't have played. :pound:

It is quite simple -- the faster you grasp the fact, these coaches are out for themselves and will do anything to keep their multi-million dollar jobs to coach a game -- you will stop making excuses and speak the truth.

Personally, if he is a graduate transfer as per stated in the OPs article, then it should not be an issue. Saban is just being a dick.

Someone remind rolltwat that he was the one that posted on there very first page of this thread how this guy wants special treatment. Bahahahahahahahahahaha this dumbass wants to claim this guy wants special treatment allthewhile saying double standards exist.

You can't do that and be taken seriously when all this guy wants to be treated as the guy that was granted a release to Missouri.

Bama fans defend anything I swear.

Jesus...this thread is full of revelations.

First we learned life isn't fair...now we are learning people act in their own self interest....

I can't wait for tomorrow and the exciting things y'all are going to teach us ignorant Southerners next.

NEXT UP...Water is wet...who knew.

Where's Smiles when you need him. At least his fairness manifesto was entertaining.

see, was that so hard? Yes, Saban is concerned about UGA this season and is acting in his own self interest in not granting this kid's release. It's ok to be honest, you can still be a bama fan and think Saban is kind of being an ass.

A. This guy hasn't graduated yet.
B. This guy wants to go to a team that could potentially be a 2016 conference opponent.

Hence he wants to be treated as a special snowflake.

LOL, you don't understand how asking for special treatment and double standards are not mutually exclusive and I'm the dumbass.

Maybe you should stick to sister fucking or whatever creepy shit it is you hillbillies do for fun on Thursday afternoons.

Maybe you should have a sit down with the rest of the Bama fans and explain that to them. They seem to think Saban is above doing anything like this and instead make excuses for him. Trying to speak rationally is humorous coming from a Bama fan. Here are some examples.

The Saban rule was made because other coaches were lazy -- not that he continually bumped into top recruits during a dead period when he was going to meet with coaches and teachers.

Saban's 1st 4 years at Bama -- more medical hardships given out than the entire SEC combined. Yet he wasn't removing dead weight off the roster --Bama fans argued they got hurt more than anyone else in college football history.

I could go on and on. Satellite camps, one year scholarships, grad transfers. I could list the excuses for each from Bama fans -- when they could have just said -- college football is a business and top coaches are cut throat, medical hardships was the easiest way to rebuild the roster and OF COURSE the ACC and SEC don't want satellite camps because the overwhelming majority will be in their backyard.

The truth is much easier than always making excuses.

I'm absolutely neutral on this. I don't care about either program, but I don't see what all the big deal is. Alabama has a lot invested in this kid (3 years of training), and they expect him to be a starter this upcoming season (the culmination of three seasons of training and playing time).

Why would they just let him walk away to a team they have a good chance at seeing in the SEC championship? If the kid wasn't going to play much, if at all next year for the Crimson Tide, I'd agree that Saban is being a jerk. But I can understand how he can say, "you can leave, but you can't go to anyone in the SEC." I don't think that is an unfair stipulation. Just my two cents.

So he wants to be treated like Former Bama WR Chris Black who must have been 'a snowflake' because Bama signed the waiver for the grad transfer so he could play immediately and transfer to Missouri, who happens to be in the SEC and had as much potential to play Bama as Georgia does. :L

Or is it only considered asking for special treatment if Saban would rather he doesn't transfer.
