So a special request by 1 player > all the other players on the team?
All other players on the team aren't asking for a transfer

What does it matter really? I mean is this guy gonna be a game changer on the field? Utah let Steve Tu'ikolovatu transfer to USC. Alabama was runner up to sign him. He will play this year. Same division in the conference.

Also, as you've said REPEATEDLY on here. At Bama, scholarships are only 1 year at a time. If Saban or any coach with one year scholarships can pull it from a player. The player should have every right to walk away and transfer whenever they want.
This isn't jail. This is college.
And before you say UM would do the same. We let a sophomore OL (that earned all-b1g honors) transfer to OHIO STATE, because he was unhappy with the new coach hired. It'd be like Bama granting a transfer to an all-SEC linemen to Auburn or LSU
But he's not supposed to act in the best interest of the team?
There is a reason these rules exist. Is everyone in the future supposed to be allowed to leave on a whim and change teams without sitting out a year?
You can't prevent players from transfering. Of issue is if they have to sit out a year or not. He can play for Georgia if he wants - in 2017, not 2016.
The best part of all this - Kirby Smart wouldn't even let a guy transfer to Miami. But Saban is the bad guy - as always.

This isn't even about graduating or not. I just read the guy is graduating this month. And after reading how ridiculous the Bama players have been -- throwing his clothes in the trash, texting him not to show up at the facility, lunch, etc. you'd think they would just grant him his release and let him go to any school.
I don't even see the big deal about letting him go to Georgia. Bama doesn't even play them this year and It isn't like he will give Georgia some secret info on Bama they don't have already -- Kirby Smart is their damn coach. If they are worried about players leaving in bunches if they let one guy do it. There are serious issues with the program then. Seems pretty simple to me -- if you have graduated, you can go wherever you'd like to play your last year of eligibility.
He can go to any school.
Just how dumb are you?
If that is the case -- I'm sure we will be reading how Saban and Bame will allow him to go play for Georgia without sitting out a year, since he will be a graduate transfer and Bama doesn't even play Georgia.
Nope.
Saban isn't a cut throat coach -- no way would he deny granting a waiver for a graduate transfer to play immediately for a team Bama doesn't even play.
Smith can just come back to Bama -- Saban will hand out internal discipline to the players who threw all his locker belongings and personal items in the trash, as well as the guys who sent him text messages saying not to show his face at the facilities or lunch.

In a sense, it's true. Too good for most. Not all. Pandering with the dolts a couple times a month may provide some comedy.
Ahh was Saban not doing that by allowing the kid to transfer to mizzou without missing a year?
But hell no to another kid (more talented) that wants to go to Georgia?
It's 100% hypocritical to pick and choose who can go where when the same standards don't apply to all.
