Kid ran a 5.5 40, and did like 23 reps of 225 at his pro day. Could you imagine running a power left sweep with this kid next to Trent and Scherff as a pulling guard?? :D

If he is there in the 5th and we take him.... I would not be upset.

A what good is a TE who runs a 5.5? If you want him as a blocker make him a lineman.

Wow... no offense but 23 reps is bottom 1/4 of the offensive line and his 40 time is at the bottom (couple 5.57 and 5.58 times but hand timing is usually quicker than combine times).

Looks like he converted from guard last year and does the Fridge goal line stuff (slips out and catches a TD).

Won't be an asset on special teams, 6'7 and 400+ lbs is not an NFL size (high center of gravity and heavy)...

I would say look at some of his clips before you totally write him off. He is a big boy, and admittedly wont win any foot races, but he can move.

Oh and my mistake.... 30 Reps on the press..

His official pro day clip from NFL.com

6-foot-6 1/8, 405 pounds -- ran the 40-yard dash in 5.55 and 5.41 seconds. He had a 24-inch vertical jump and 8-foot-2 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 5.47 seconds and the three-cone drill in 8.25 seconds. He also performed 30 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. For a man of this size to put up these kind of numbers is really impressive. McGowan has to be the biggest prospect we've ever had at a pro day. If you want to get a sense of McGowan's athleticism, take a look at this 18-yard touchdown reception against Kansas last season.

Cerrato would've drafted him to replace Darrell Young. And what's with falling down in the open field after getting cut by a smallish DB?

My take on him is this..

He would be more of a specialty item in on certain packages where ever he goes.
He will always struggle to maintain a weight where he can still be effective. But if he can maintain that size and still be productive, depending on where we could actually put him, I wouldnt mind seeing him. Because lets face it, most people that get UP to 400lbs, damn sure are NOT going to be on the football field, or doing anything else remotely related to physical exertion. We are looking for guys that have the DRIVE to play, cant doubt this kids drive. And some smart coach or GM is going to find a spot for him. So make the Cerrato jokes and all. But with his size, if he can stay motivated, this might be one of those just plain football players every one is thumping chest about.

You're assuming that I'm bad-mouthing Vinny when I said that. It may indeed be a correct assumption, sir, but still an assumption nonetheless.

Come on man... ANY TIME you mention the name Vinny when talking about a move the Redskins might or could make, its kinda like mentioning Russia and Nuclear responsibility.
