Obviously depending on the money this is a great signing. The guy has had a great year and has shown he is the perfect player for this system. Give him another year working with Kollar and I think he could emerge as one of the premier 3-4 DE's in football.

Looks like it was a 4-year/$36.75 million contract. Said he would give the Broncos a hometown discount and looks like he gave us a little one. On the open market he was being told he could get over $10 million a year. Hopefully this doesn't mean we can't get Malik signed too.

9+ MM per year puts him among top DE salaries - nit sure there was too much of a hometown discount. And here's to him staying healthy!

I guess for me I look at Mike Daniels for the Packers. He just signed a 4-year/$41 million contract. Derek Wolfe with 4 less games this year had more sacks and tackles for loss than Daniels but took a smaller contract. With the way the Cap has gone up that $10 million per year is the cost of a very good DE in the NFL now. So the fact that he took a bit less than that at least to me is a hometown discount. Now realize for these players when they say that they are not meaning some ridiculous 50% type discount. They are usually talking somewhere in the 5-10% area. So while it is not a huge discount I would still consider this a little bit of a discount that helps the team out with other players. I mean imagine if every one of them are willing to sign for $1 million per year less than what they could get on the open market. That is an entire top level player depending on position added to the team.

I do think what we have seen is the players that Elway has signed from inhouse have all taken below market value. They value staying with the Broncos more so than a possible few million more in their pocket they could get elsewhere. I don't blame players for going for top dollar but I definitely appreciate those who are willing to stay for a bit less.

Good news, good enough deal and find a way to get Malik a deal too. He's a rising star imo. He could prob play O line better than Schofield also ;)

Going to echo a lot of others, great news to re-sign Wolfe, and hopefully this means the Broncos can bring Malik back as well.

Rumor has it the Broncos are now working on getting Malik locked up long-term. So doesn't look like just because we signed Wolfe that Malik isn't staying.

I read that Wolfe was 10th on salary for a DE at this moment - which I think is a discount. I also hope Jackson is signed too.

Does anyone believe Ware will return? Isn't he on contract through next year? But will he actually return, be cut, or be released? In addition to Jackson, we have some very crucial LBs to think about. Miller, Marshal, and Danny T. come to mind. Ware's cap number next year frees up some $$$ to keep the team together for several more seasons.

I think Ware will be offered an opportunity to return at a renegotiated contract. I think he will take it too.

This is that fork in the road you referred to - you went left, I'm going right. I don't think Ware returns next year. But I appreciate his service.
