Because people who truly believe in their team do that.
Heat fans took 'field' bets because we believed we would win.
We're not talking cash, like in Vegas
Don't be so dramatic

it's true. saw it myself on the CBS boards. least the Heat fans there DID have the cast iron balls to back up their claims with some confidence in their team(i.e. accept bets)...

Sometimes- being patient and letting time vindicate you is just too awesome.

Reading an article from ESPN today- I came across the following exceprt-

How does Love fit in?
Meanwhile, for all the concern about how Love has fit in (or fit out), Cleveland has been rolling along. Since David Blatt went to a lineup with a healthy Irving at point guard and Tristan Thompson at center in place of Timofey Mozgov, the Cavaliers are 5-0 and the starters are outscoring opponents by 20.1 points per 100 possessions, per NBA.com/Stats.

More generally, Cleveland has been outstanding when Love plays with Thompson this season, posting a plus-14.1 net rating per 100 possessions -- far better than the Cavaliers' plus-1.0 net rating when Love plays with Mozgov. As impressive, Love-Thompson lineups have allowed just 98.3 points per 100 possessions, a rate that would put them fourth in the league. (Cleveland ranks seventh overall in defensive rating.)

IS IT POSSIBLE????? LOVE AND THOMPSON THRIVE WHEN THEY PLAY TOGETHER?!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!! what is going on? I thought it was RIDICULOUS TO PAY BOTH THESE GUYS!!! lol....

oh man....its just too great.

With how much money the Cavs spent on their backup PF, he should be able to play with the more expensive starting PF.

FTR he still wasn't worth that contract
He'd have to be the starter since day 1 and avg 15 and 12 type of numbers with great defense to possibly be worth that, and that's not happening.

Or be an important factor on a team that brings CLE a ship

Yes, the goal that's alluded Cleveland for so long is a championship and if they get even 1 then all the money spent will be worth it. I still don't think he's worth the money in the long run, but all that matters is right now and winning a title.

Yes and no. There are quite a few players that could provide what TT does at a much lower price, However, if the Cavs win a title, no one is going to care about the size of TT's contract. Especially if he plays well.

The problem will be if the Cavs don't win and he doesn't play well. Then it will be "We paid all that money for what?" It can also become a problem if the Cavs decide they want or need to trade him and can't because they can't find anyone willing to take that contract.

End of the day though, TT had the Cavs by the short hairs, so they kind of had to pay him that amount.

Milwaukee is loaded with young talent but they haven't played well this season.

But not "damn good" enough for you to be willing to bet on your super team.
As Trojan has already asked, why not just stfu until you are willing to stand behind your words?

And you're also right it's not every night, last night was prob the first night.

JR Smith moved into 20th place ALL TIME in 3 pointers last night. That kind of surprised me that he was that high on that list. 18 of his last 30 from 3....not bad...

blow me. I am not making a bet for 6 months from now without having no clue what the circumstances will look like

When the Cavs make the Finals- if they Love, LEBron and Kyrie are all playing at least mostly healthy i will without a doubt- but making a FINALS bet in January? yah...thats beyond stupid.

if you would like a Cavs/Heat grudge match bet? yah i would do that with y a though- no problem- if they meet in the playoffs....heres hoping miami keeps its playoff spot in a improved Eastern Conference.

Since joining the Cavs last January, he has hit more 3s than any other player in the East -

"He's never been invited," James said of the All-Star Saturday night event. "I think I might need to start making that petition. Us being the No. 1 team in the East, him shooting the ball the way he's been shooting it, we need to try to get as many guys to All-Star as possible. Guys know in the league he's an unbelievable 3-point shooter and he deserves an invite."

Smith has caught fire as of late, going 18-for-30 from 3 in his last three games and 30-for-65 from deep in the last two weeks to move from No. 25 in 3-pointers made in league history to 20th, passing Mike Bibby, Nick Van Exel, Tim Hardaway and Eddie Jones along the way.

"My dad told me when I passed Bibby and was talking about all the best 3-point shooters of all time and was like, 'Man, I mean, before it's done you're going to be up there, numbers wise, with the greatest 3-point shooters ever,' " Smith told ESPN.com.

hes a cancer though. bad move. Cavs just were FORCED to take him- didnt even want him.

LOL...yet again.....time brings vindication.
