Anyone else notice the reoccurrence of the number 5 yesterday...

5 sacks
5 TOs
5 TDs for Cam

Not liking the number 5 much today

Fundamentals. Gotta do your job. Tackling issue is really biting us in the ass, especially in run defense.

Really hope Hatcher understands how foolish this looks. Move on and look at the man in the mirror to do a better job.

Pretty much think we all realize that the rule is the rule. The penalty follows the letter of the rule. Would have been nice to include intent but you gotta defer to the ref on this. Don't have to like it tho.

When a rule blatantly flys in the face of common sense, either the rule needs to be changed or if I know Im going to run afoul of it, Im at least going to make it worth it. At the end of the day. once that call was made, the Panthers just started to bully us. NO way in hell should a DB feel comfortable picking a fight with an OT at home or on the road. IN the second half, the Panthers players were on the bench yelling out this team is soft, they just want to get this game over. And they were spot on. FOr a team that boasted how they wanted teams to REMEMBER they had played the Redskins, and feel like it was a fight the entire way.... this team just laid there and took it however Cam decided to put it to them after a certain point.

Happy for Roberts. He hasn't had many sparkling moments for us and this was a bright spot for him and STs yesterday. Anyone else waiting for a flag to call this back...I was, lulz.

If they did And it sure looked like it, then that's on them. Unacceptable.

Sometimes a team lays an egg for some reason. Don't know why, just know that it happens. This one I am putting in the "it is done and over with" bag. The entire team stunk. Not going to throw one or 53 players under the bus for this one. We know everyone came up short.

I expect a better game next week. Might not win but I at least want to see more attention to detail and more fight.

True regarding having an off game.

Unfortunately at this point in the season, seems like more a trend than an 'off day' for the Skins when facing a better than average team. Probably no coincidence that our games on the road have also been against teams that have been primarily better than average.

well then we should just cut him because he has no chance of being anything after a 10 game career

I didn't say the Skins should cut him. I just said he isn't ready, meaning he isn't ready yet to be the main RB in a run-heavy offense.

Excerpt

The numbers say that the Redskins are in the thick of things for the division title. At 4-6 they are a game behind the division-leading Giants with six to play. They play the Giants at home on Sunday. If they win, they will be tied for first place in the division with five games to go.

But logic and the eye test tell you that the Redskins are not a playoff team. Certainly, most of the 12 teams that make the playoffs each year are flawed. But the Redskins’ inability to run the ball with any degree of consistency and their inability to stop the run week in and week out are more than just flaws; they are gaping holes in their playoff resume.

How big a hole? Jay Gruden said yesterday that the Panthers game was just one game. But their performance against the run in Carolina was the mark of a non-playoff team.

Consider referee Jerome Boger's crew. As the chart shows, it entered Week 10 leading the NFL by calling an average of 20.8 penalties -- accepted, declined and offsetting -- per game. It also had made a league-high 21 calls for what I call "behavior penalties." (Personal fouls, taunting, unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct.) That's more than three times as many as the crew with the lowest total of such calls.

So it wasn't surprising to see Boger make a letter-of-the-law call Sunday against Washington Redskins cornerback Chris Culliver, whose right forearm made contact with the neck area of Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen during a game-changing play in the second quarter at Bank of America Stadium. The contact was not severe, but Boger enforced a 2015 update to Rule 12, Section 2, Article 7(b-1) that prohibits players from "forcibly hitting" a defenseless player's head or neck area with the "helmet, facemask, forearm or shoulder" during the process of an interception.

The unnecessary roughness penalty wiped out Culliver's 75-yard interception return in a game that was tied at 14. The Panthers finished the possession with a touchdown en route to a 44-16 victory. Boger's crew finished the game with 24 total penalty calls against a pair of teams that entered Week 11 with two of the NFL's seven-lowest penalty totals.
