Your team's biggest rivalries?

1. Georgia - For obvious reasons.
2. Clemson - We've played some heated games over the past 15 years. Easily the best ACC rivalry or the BCS era.
3. Virginia Tech - Classic battles to see who wins the Coastal more often than not.
4. Auburn - They are easily the most hated team in the south. Used to be right there with Georgia as our most hated rivals but of course we don't play them anymore.
5. Alabama - Those of us who know the history know why.

Arrogant f**king Bammers have huffed the brimstone. Happily addicted and with Lucifer's Vessel feeding them a ready supply, they forget about history and tradition. Hell, half or more cannot even summon the present day of the week. Tide roll... um... yeah. OH! Roll Tide! Roll Tide! That's right.

Bammers no longer recognize any as rivals. They believe that the Alabama football team should provide them an uninterrupted string of victories. Complacent. Obese. Floating through the hours that pass on a haze of brimstone. The eternity in hell which awaits them is too far into the future to be of concern (even when they're on their death beds). The last loss is so long ago... Nevermind. It doesn't matter.

Yes, Bammers are pitiable, but the Alabama football team remembers. They feel rivalry. They look upon certain opponents with steely ire. Since no current members of the Alabama football team are members of the Hoop, you'll not have an answer to this thread's question.

Question for you Texas guys...state and university. Have a lot of friends/family that are alumni of UT, A&M, Baylor and Tech. From what I observed during the SWC and Big 12 days, Baylor and Tech fans had more hatred and disdain for A&M than UT fans did. Why? What did A&M do to those two? I never heard of them stealing Midnight or the Bear.

Something happened way back at a ATM vs Tech game. I can't remember. ATM was pissed and it just blew up. In my opinion, the ATM vs Tech game became a bigger game for ATM than the Texas game toward the end of ATM's life in the Big 12. Not sure about Baylor.

ATM has always been a little bitter about the fact that the Texas vs OU game has always been a bigger rivalry game for Texas than the ATM vs Texas game. It had everything to do with Texas playing OU early. Usually the two teams were nationally ranked since it was early. Texas played ATM around Thanksgiving. By then one or the other was out of any national implications or conference title. I don't think I can even remember a time where the winner of the ATM vs Texas game was going to the winner of the SWC or the BIG 12. One may knock the other out, but no winner take all. Kind of sad.

The last seven years, coaches made the fans and media out to be the teams biggest rival. And we got our asses kicked by anyone we'd like to consider rivals.

I guess we're left with Iowa, Northwestern or Minnesota. That makes me sad.

I think Iowa-Nebraska would be bigger if the schools/media/B1G didn't try so hard making it be one.

Northwestern - played spoil many times in KF era. It is like that joke someone on here said a few years ago. They spell Iowa I-O-A at NW because they keep taking the W when they play Iowa.

Penn State - Iowa played spoil for PSU many times since KF took over.

Purdue - B1G listed them as cross-division rivals during Legends/Leaders.

Iowa-Nebraska reminds me of the episode of South Park when they tried to get Token and the new black chick student to be boyfriend/girlfriend because they're the only two black people at the middle school. Clearly you two belong together.

It's Iowa and still does it. I don't think it is so much a psychological thing anymore. It's more of a tradition thing.

I think I would go with this. But there is a huge gap between #1 and #2. Navy is interesting because you can't hate Navy, there is a great deal of respect between these programs for historical reasons. And because of the all time records, I'd go with Michigan as first on the "also getting votes" group, slightly ahead of MSU and Purdue.

ND fans like to say we have one rival (USC), one friend (Navy -- google the history of the rivalry and why it will never end) and one enemy (Michigan).

USC is our biggest rival by far, mostly because it is two college heavyweights that have no conference affiliation or regional tie which makes it unique in college football.

Navy is our "friend" in the sense that Notre Dame owes its existence to Navy through WWII when enrollment fell off and they operated an officer school there to keep the doors open. ND has promised to always play Navy as long as they want to, and Navy benefits from the national exposure of that game.

Michigan treated ND like dirt from day one, and thier coach/AD's BS blacklisting ND from the Big 10 ironically helped ND build its national brand. There's no love lost between these two schools, embrace the hate, but they are not a rival in the sense that USC is.

Others receiving votes, Mich. St., Purdue (in-state program, but that's about it), Miami (for a time, was as big a rivalry game as USC), Stanford (brainy school that plays blue collar lunchpail football)

Grow up in Oklahoma, but played my high school ball in Charleston and had no idea how intense the Clemson\SC rivalry was till moving there. Only made it to one game and I think it was Holtz's last season as HC, but there was a huge brawl on the field I remember. Got pretty ugly.

1. Florida- Georgia and Florida have a state rivalry. I say what waters flow through the Chattahoochee River in the state of Georgia belongs to the state of Georgia, and don't think about seeking refuge from a hurrican in Georgia. Plus Florida fucks our shit up nearly every year.

2. Georgia Tech- In state rival, we dominate the series, and fuck Atlanta
