Why would it require an attitude adjustment ON YOUR PART?A black Bond would definitely require an attitude adjustment on my part but possible if the actor is good enough but he's definitely gotta be British...
If the character were played like a swashbuckler in British high-society, what does it matter the color of his skin? If the character is changed to a Samual L. cookie-cutter character, than OK. But that would not be Bond, and would certainly not be Elba's take on the character.
I REALLY think that Elba gets a lot of talk about Bond because he is the right type of actor. Not because he is the right type of BLACK actor. I am rather conservative, and don't like all this PC BS that bleeds into just about every movie. But I came to thinking Elba would be a good Bond completely indipendantly, before all the talk started getting a lot of play. This is because he is an imposing, strong British actor who controls the screen in a high-brow, educated manner. Even in The Wire, where he played a bad-assed gangsta, he played him as an educated, proper gangsta.
By contrast, Denzell would NOT make a good Bond. He plays his characters too casual, with a playful laugh being one of his main character quirks. He does not play "distinguished" very well.
