Elba and Fassbender are the popular picks and Jackman has been lobbying for the gig. Would Brits be able to accept an Aussie Bond?

I think Cavill has the look to pull it off. He's probably way too buff at this point to play Bond. If he drops the Superman weight and slims down a little I could picture him in the role.

I'm a Fassbender fan, but I don't think he's physically set to play the part. Jackman is already too old. Cavill is too big. Elba or Hardy have my votes.

I have no prob with Bond being black, if the actor is good. I think Elba can certainly pull it off.

But to say "about time" is cringe-worthy.

Bond is too iconic to do such a turn. Studios would be taking a major risk, but if it were any actor to do it I'd say Elba would be the one. I doubt they are going in that direction though.

Recently a new Bond author Horowitz recently said in an interview that it wasn't a color/race thing it was that Elba is "too street"

Many took offense to that and Elba responded on Twitter saying "Always keep smiling. It takes no energy and never hurts. Learned that from the streets!"

If people can get their heads around a bunch of different ACTORS playing the same guy, then the actor having a darker skin tone means absofvckinglutely nothing.

Me too. He has the "total bastard" attitude with polish that made Sean Connery the best Bond (Craig was easily #2)

I "think" he could handle the physical part too. Wasn't he in 300?

A black Bond would definitely require an attitude adjustment on my part but possible if the actor is good enough but he's definitely gotta be British...
