I remember seeing a stat somewhere last year that Stafford also had the worst short yardage accuracy, too. Stafford, Flacco, Cutler and Newton are definitely the top tier of the current guys, imo. Mettenberger is probably up there, too

What is a Mettenburger? I've heard of cheese burgers and hamburgers, but we don't have those around here.

He was the guy that was so bad in college that no one knew Odell Beckham was actually really good

No doubt Stafford has an arm... I can only speak for seeing Flacco throw it and he throws a missile.
I agree, Flacco has a great arm. He's likely top 3 in the league.

It's weird he made somewhat of a name for himself in the NFL but Aaron Murray never amounted to much (Mettenberger got kicked off of UGA). I thought Mettenberger did a decent job at LSU but boy did they let him get hit hard.

Brady won the long toss at the QB skills competition at the Pro Bowl in his 3rd or 4th year :noidea: with a throw of just over 70 yds.

I would think that most NFL QB's can fling it that far considering I am fast approaching 55 and I can still throw it 50 yds. I Russell Wilson's size BTW and most of these guys are huge.

reality...

So Rex give it a toss...

Jeff George had about as strong an arm as I've ever seen. It's a shame his brain was under developed.

Marino and Elway had great arms, but nothing like Jeff. Bert Jones had a great arm and so did Drew Bledsoe who is a ginormous fella with a canon for an arm.
drew had an absolute cannon. problem is, he forced that cannon into triple coverage after he did his tell tale "pat the ball" before he released it.

Far as arm strength. I'd of liked to have seen how far Bo Jackson could throw a football after the way he gunned down Harold Reynolds at home plate. Still one of the most awesome displays of throwing a ball I've seen. That said.

Vince Evans, Southern Cal/Chicago Bears, could fling it with the best of em I'd say.

What about JaMarcus Russell? Couldn't he fling it 75 yards from his knees?

Elway had a serious ass heater.

Bert Jones, he was a fuckin stud, too bad he got injured, could put some mustard on it as well.

Vick had one of the most effort-less throwing motions and could throw 60 yard ropes.

What about Steve Bartkowski? He had a serious cannon didn't he?

Effortless motion who could throw it a long way, Randall Cunningham. Warren Moon threw the best deep ball i've ever seen... Favre is obviously up there as is Elway but Elway is the most overrated QB's in the history of the league so...

Here's a list with Marino No 1 (bleacher report):
Dan Marino and the NFL's 10 Strongest-Armed QBs of All Time | Bleacher Report

My top 5:
1. Unitas : I dont know if his throws were that great or the film was that old, but the ball floated ... no matter ... the best QB of all time
2. Elway: Power with accuracy
3. Stafford: I never saw a release like his. Im not sure he has to throw like that or the OL is just that much bigger than him
4. Favre: He threw it hard short or long. Not much touch.
5. Eli Manning: Fuck him and his brother

Elway had a good defense most of the time, the QB of your team has done more with less. He didn't win jack squat until TD showed up! Let's not forget that Elway also has some of the ugliest performances in Super Bowl history

Yeah, those good defenses that gave up 38, 42, and 55 in the Super Bowl.

Loom who they played in those Games and look at how many turnovers Elway had that lead to those scores.

Also remember they were playing against better teams in all 3 losses.

The Broncos defenses were always ranked pretty high in the regular season.

In closing Elway is overrated, fact not opinion...

In general, 80s sports is kinda overrated because we get fooled by the concept of legends

Agreed, we tend to romanticize past players. But Montana who is from the 80's is still the GOAT... IMO anywho...
