i never said i didnt. i said the only thing goodells good at is making the owners money.

Isn't that his main job though as commissioner? I mean in that sense he has been the best commissioner the NFL has ever seen. He has found a way to make the NFL appeal to even the casual fan. He has made it more appealing towards women in the last 15 years widening the scope to make more money. He has worked hard to make it appealing overseas. He has helped in the changing of the rules to make the game more exciting. He was here when the beginning of fantasy football began to make it even crazier so more fans would watch more games with interest. I mean in my opinion he is here to make the league money and if that is the case then he has been a great commissioner.

I don't remember all this hate for any commissioner in any sport. Ever. I know Bud Selig has plenty of detractors, but he's also been on the job for 100 years. I don't remember any such hatred for Pete Rozelle or Paul Tagliabue, at all, in the NFL.

Stern .... That guy, ok I need to stop typing...

Again then if you don't like what the league is becoming then stop supporting it. You are just as much part of the problem if you can't stand what the league is becoming and what they are doing yet then say "take my money"

Bullshit. The reason for all the extra revenue has more to do with Fantasy Football and the NFL Red Zone than anything Goodell has gone. What has 'ol Rog done? Maybe just push the game in Europe? What else has he done that didn't happen organically?

Well to think he hasn't been at least part of the reason the league has pushed forward is ridiculous as well. I'm not saying he is the only reason it has happened but the league went from 3rd among major sports in the country behind baseball and basketball to skyrocketing past both of those and showing very little signs of any kind of regression.

I actually am one that thinks that is what he will get. I understand again the money side of this in Brady is one of the most profitable players in the league. not having him on the field hurts revenue.

Honestly, I don't think he did anything that you couldn't have done. He's lucky to be commish at a time of huge technological advances. That's made him look great. Also, the NBA was NEVER bigger than the NFL. Baseball was, but that was probably 25-30 years ago now.

Well I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this. While the NFL was making its climb I would say it wasn't until the mid-199's or so that it started showing some signs of fan growth. NBA was most definitely bigger than the NFL for a long time by the way.

Could it be that the rule infraction is so minimal but the outrage in the media so large he is stuck trying to make both sides happy?

I don't like Goodell, but there are several things that I really do understand.....He has 32 bosses. No matter what he thinks personally, he has to satisfy those 32 guys. I'm sure he's spoken to more tha 2 or 3 about what to do and how to do it. he has 95% of NFL fans who hate the New England Patriots and if he banned Tom Brady and Bill Belichick for life, they still wouldn't be happy with the decision. Finally, the NFL also has to consider television and their advertisers. That plays a large role in any decision.

I don't believe for one second that Goodell is making this decision 100% on his own.

No. This is all calculated by Goodell. He didn't want Ray Rice 2.0 this time. As soon as he is done compiling the faux outrage, he will do what the media tells him to do.

Didn't even realize this until my ride home from work but Goodell basically gets his bonuses from 3 owners and Kraft is one of them.... Could be the reason why no punishment.

From what I understand he actually isn't even the one that handles the decision of what kind of suspension is handed down in a situation like this. And you are right I'm sure he has spoken to many and really the whole league office has spoken to many by this point.

Heck just look at the situation with the Vikings this past year. They brought back Peterson after the whole child abuse thing happened and all of a sudden the fans were in an uproar and then next thing they knew they had sponsors start pulling their money because of the public outrage surrounding the situation. Now obviously this situation isn't that of child abuse but it does show that public opinion has a lot of power to sway what the NFL does. If they realize it is going to cost them big money to go easy in this situation then they will lean towards what keep getting them money. Heck even Kraft would probably be more for the making money side of things even if it means his top player is possibly suspended for a bit.
