But the owners voted Goodell in just 6 months ago.

"NFL: Owners voted unanimously to extend Goodell’s contract in May".

"Perhaps the most important point regarding the ongoing effort by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to block the extension of Commissioner Roger Goodell relates to a decision that all 32 owners made in May, including Jones".
okay...in the last 5 months RG suspended Elliot anyway after his female lead investigator (the only investigator who actually interviewed the accuser) recommended no suspension... AND RG has since asked for 50M a year, a plane and lifetime insurance.

You don't see how Jerry's opinion would change?

Jerry is trying to make a power play and no one is following him. Jerry has turned in to Al Davis, the old senile version. He's just a sideshow at this point.

that's an opinion
we'll see if no other owner cares about Roger's demands. I tend to think others will

Yes I can see why Jerry's opinion has change, but what can Jerry do about it now?

"Goodell, whose existing contract runs through next season, has offered to give up "the majority of his contract guarantees" for a deal that would peg more of his pay to performance incentives, the source told CNNMoney".

The point is, "Goodell's existing contract runs through next season".

  • Jerry Jones is not GOD. If the 31 other owners so decide, they can force him out and force him to sell the Cowboys. He can go to court, he can sue, he can cause a hell of a mess. In the end, he's gone. Every owner signs the contract before given the title of Franchise Owner. The NFL can take away his franchise.
Now that would be fun to watch..........................................

ESPN reported this morning that the NFL Compensation Committee contact NBA Commissioner Adam Silver about the possibility of jumping to the NFL.

Let's see.......Silver makes $9.5M a year as NBA Comish. NFL is offering $25M. A 15.5M a year raise for the next 5 years...........hhhmmmmmmmmm.

$24M less per year than Roger is demanding.......hhhmmmmmmmmmmmm

If this is true, Roger will be a memory come March.

Over half the owners dislike Goodell.
all but 1 owner do not want to see Jerry "running" the NFL.
Goodell is doing what he did with Kraft. Divide and conquer.....

What do you disagree with? The league shouldn't be allowed to be pick their own commissioner?

Goodell is worse than Jones. His unchecked power trip has been a crock since he got here and the good old boys club can't see that almost anyone else would be a better option.

Performance incentives? If he paid back every penny he's ever made as commissioner it wouldn't be enough to undo the image problem that he's created for the league. Any robot in a suit could have made the league billions in the fantasy football explosion.

Yes someone else could of done the same and the NFL owners should hold the line on his salary. However replacing him will be tough, because the one thing you need as commish is clout and Goodell has that. Who could the NFL get that could provide that clout to stand up to alpha type owners?

True, but the owners also think Goodell needs to take a pay cut, not get a raise as the compensation committee is attempting to do.

I’m in agreement to the pay cut. The NFL has peaked and now it’s about not sliding down far. This isn’t the time for raises.

The raise is part of the reason Jerry is balking at the extension. He has accused Blank of misleading the owners about the details in the deal.
He asked for an owners meeting to discuse the deal and was denied until he sent the contract to all owners, now walla they have a meeting.

He doesn't stand up to every owner, he picks and chooses his spots. Who is in his club and who isn't. The God damn kicker for the Giants got a slap on the wrist and only was fully punished after they shit-canned him.

This kind of stuff makes him a massive hypocrite.
