In the case of the NFL this will be interesting to see whether the NFL bends or the union bends. Right now they kind of have a "3 strike rule". I would bet the house that the union would be fervently against a hair follicle policy especially if marijuana use around the league is as widespread as the article tries to indicate.

hair tests are VERY expensive vs the standard gastro spectrometer test used in urine samples.

parts/nanoliter are cheaper to do than the hair analysis.

if your testing 1,700 people with hair vs urine, the price is easily 10 fold, one vs the other.

Wrong. I work in a field that requires a CDL & often uses some type of heavy machinery at one time or another. If you are tested while at work & have alcohol in your system, you can be fired.

As to how Hernandez avoided suspension, testing for recreational drugs only happens between April 20 and Aug. 9, though players signed or acquired after Aug. 9 can be tested later than that if they haven't been already. In addition, rookies and any players not under contract with a team at the end of the prior season are also subject to pre-employment testing. Basically, you have to be a dumbass to piss hot. Once you piss hot, then you are put on a random testing program & are tested frequently.

It amazes me that some players are so "addicted" to pot, that they can't give it up for a few months in order to use it the rest of the year. Especially when the supposed "need" to use it to deal with the rigors of an NFL season are far off from when they piss hot.

of any recreational drug, it has the least amount of "withdrawal symptoms"...and they typically only last a day or 2.

Wouldn't it make more sense for thee league to do saliva testing? Give them a better idea if the player smoked recently rather than a month ago. I guess NFL and logic don't fit too well together though

I'm not shy either.

I signed up for some professional life insurance back in 2005. You had to get tested prior to acceptance.

I hadn't worked for 10 months and had basically done nothing but burn the superb herb over that time.

3 weeks before D Day, I stopped. Drank copious amounts of fluids, sat in hot tubs and saunas after my daily 3K swim, etc.

I passed the piss test. My wife was really pissed because I only gave it barely 3 weeks and we needed the insurance.

When I put my foot back on the gas boy did I feel it..... Wooosshhhhhhh...... I'd almost forgotten since I'd basically been operating in a permastone for the previous 30 pluss years.
