There was a case for that when he was a healthy player, best way for rangers to get value for fielder is to have him hitting everyday, he provides negative value as a fielder anyway...

Your idea requires a budget that is much larger than what JD's budget has looked like the past couple of seasons. That is the kind of budget I wanted a year ago when I suggested they go after McCann, Cruz and/or Napoli, and Abreu. JD said almost a year ago on Norm's show that he could go to the owners and ask to increase the budget if he wanted to, but he didn't see any available free agents worth doing so. He then added that he didn't see any in next year's class worth doing so either. So I think we are stuck with this budget for at least another offseason.

It is just hard to rebuild the way you want to this offseason and the way I wanted to last offseason with JD's budget.

Well if Shields, Lester , and Scherzer aren't enough to ask for an increase I don't know what is. Adding 2 of those would make us an immediate WS contender. Yes, I know it's not going to happen. I just don't think JD is correct there.

Choo Fielder and Elvis contracts may eat his lunch. Going after those three or even two will remind JD of how big money doesn't always solve your problem. Kind of like the big contracts issued by the Angels and we do not need to go in that direction and I know you are aware of it too. Just saying.

I'm sure the first call of order this off season is to shop Elvis around. That may be the first domino. Expecting another busy Winter Meetings in Dec.

Yes it is. Would not even attempt to trade Odor. And good luck to JD if he pursues to trade Elvis. It's gonna be hard.

Hope we add a pitching prospect into the mix with our #1 pick but I'm afraid Arizona has given up. La Russa doing it to us AGAIN!

And one thing to keep in mind about Chirinos and him "not being part of our future." Although he's 30 he hasn't spent much time as a catcher and therefore doesn't have the wear and tear of many his age at the position.

He may have his best years ahead of him.
