let's see we have Beltre at 3rd, Fielder at 1st and Choo, Martin and unless we release him Rios so where do you start him

It's not a matter of releasing Rios. It's a matter of picking up his option for 13 million. I think we can do better for that money if we are willing to spend it.

Outside of picking up a player through trade or free agency we don't have a better option.

I know we've all been down this road but what if we could talk Cruz into coming back to DH/OF? I put DH first because I would like to see Rua get the LF spot next year. I wanted to call this kid up earlier than we did so we could really see what we have in him. I know it's early but the kid makes solid contact. I agree, and said the same a week or so ago that I would like to see him knock it out of the park. I think an off-season working out with the big league club could help.

I would actually really like to see Martin, Rua, and Choo in the OF with Nelly being able to spell Choo and occasionally Rua. Now that dilemma is settled (lol), I still don't know what I'd do with the IF.

so do i but if we aren't active in the FA or trade market we have few options but to pick up his option

I think there's a very slim chance Rios is back. Let our young OF options take the LF spot and use the 13 million to get Cruz or another bat.

Cruz isn't coming back to dh. I doubt he wants to leave an immediate contender to come back to split time between dh and of.

Or let a potentially better and definitely cheaper talent develop in a rebuilding year.

He's DHing quite a bit there and he will come back if we give him 3 years. I don't think BAL is giving him a multi year deal.

We won't be picking up the option on Rios (pay him a million), and Choo is expected to move to RF. So that opens up LF.

It's difficult to say what we're going to get outta Fielder. Frankly, he was awful at 1st to begin with, and if the neck limits him at all, he's gotta move to permanent DH IMO. So we may have need there too.

We should know at this point that although AB had a great season next year will be his 18th and at some point his body will give up on him. Although, I suspect if we keep all our MIF the plan may be to eventually move Profar to 3rd.

Remember, Rua is also a 1B and played it well too. I remember him scooping quite a few over there. I don't think there's any way he doesn't make the team next year being able to play 2 positions of need.

We would've stupid to give 3 years to another aging dh.

Recently I read Cruz isn't a top priority with the O's for a multi-year contract. I'm puzzled by this, but that's what I read.

I'm really leery of bringing anyone here with the thought of them primarily being a DH. Until we see how Fielder is physically, I'd rather see us use the money for pitching.

If he's on this team, he needs to be playing every day is all I'm saying. And I don't mean by moving him around 3 different positions.

He's 34. It's not like he's 38. I would love to have Nelly back for 3 years. He hasn't shown any sign of slowing down this year. We need power in this line-up. I would like Nelly or Gattis.

AB is in the last year of his contract and depending on what the team sees outta him and how well his body maintains, he may be getting more DH duty than he wants. But perhaps a necessary move.

I said I would like to see him in LF next year. I was just reminding him that he can play 1B if we need him too.

Maybe Profar starts the year in AAA while playing 3B. That might be a lot to ask for him to step in after injury and play a new position.

I agree that I don't want him to be the next Profar failed experiment.

But having him in LF and as a backup at 1st would work for next season.

Of course, all this is dependent on Fielders health. And I'm really hoping the team can have a handle on this early on in ST.

Just feels like Profar has been jerked around a lot.

Thing is, he did exactly that with Colby Lewis, and Beltre. It's easy to say stuff like that in hindsight.

Honestly, I'm okay with producing a WC contending team next year and a real contender in 2016. We've got the talent to be legit in 2016.

The key is just getting into the postseason. WC or not if you're in the tournament anybody can come out of it the champion.
