Interesting article on ESPN site re: Russel Martin becoming a FA after this season with the Pirates. And the Rangers are mentioned as potential landing spots.

I think JD will go cheap at catcher again.

I would like that as he seems to have a tough attitude about him along with good tools.

Me too. He's going to have to spend a bunch on pitching if he wants any chance at being competitive

How much do you think he will spend on pitching?

Did you guys hear that Benji Molina is also a candidate for the managerial position.

Catchers many times do make good managers. Just not sure if he would too buddy-buddy with the guys.

That is a tough question to answer. Depends what is out there. You have to tread likely as most likely those available will have some wear and tear on them and you do not want to give them too many years in order to sign them. That was one issue I had with Cliff Lee. I can't remember but the 6-7 years on him scared me because I just felt like his body type and with the number of pitches he threw each game because of the high strike out rate was going to wear him out quickly.

Not as much as we'd all like him to. I would like Shields and maybe Gallardo. That seems relatively realistic, but I think there's a better chance of getting a veteran and someone like Shields.

I don't see us getting someone like Shields. He is going to get a big payday. The Rangers aren't usually in on those.

We were in on Grienke until the very end and he got a much bigger payday, but you might be right. I'd be alright with Gallardo and Santana.

Is it a given that Milwaukee doesn't pick up the option on Gallardo?

I will amend what I said. Sometimes they are in on those big payday negotiations, but they never land a big payday pitcher for various reasons.

Heard today the Tigers are seriously considering moving Verlander to the BP.

Should be a competitive series here, I would hope. Les is probably pulling for both teams.

No, no, I'm pulling for the Rangers all the way. I'll pull for the Braves in the NL....and they're going absolutely nowhere this year just like the Rangers...

If we can find any kind of offense at all, we have a chance at a few wins in this series. Braves offense has been nearly as awful as ours as been over the last several weeks...

This Wood kid has been pretty decent...Braves are very high on him...weird motion!!!

Hit by injuries too, weren't they? Particularly in the rotation.
