I agree with you.

However, I was really referring to our "reconfigured" ball park.

Hate the lack of air flow, and all that backstop nonsense.

With you on all of that donaldson. Bring back that jet stream.

Darvish has great stats overall but he will need to do much better against the AL West than what we saw this year or we will be hurting.

That's a tall order. Going to be tough to put a contending pitching staff together by next season. 2016 is more realistic.

maybe but we can try. facing another season of fielding AA and AAA pitching is going to be ugly

I hope that experiment is over.

omg this. We try to break too many parts that arent broken. That's always been one of my theories as to why we've had shitty luck. Seemingly every year we experiment with a part that already has its place. Neffy, David Murphy, Schep, Robbie (although I still have a LITTLE hope), Ogando, and JFC so many more. I'm okay with a little experiment once in a while, but not with players with established roles the season prior.

For example, I think a team like the giants demonstrate what I'm talking about. They mix players up when it isnt working AKA lincecum. Everyone else is in, pretty much, the role they have always been in. They've pitched/played in that role for years, and not only are THEY accustomed to being there, but their teammates are as well which can have a larger impact than one may think. Pablo Sandoval, as much as he has fluctuated from regular obesity to borderline blob hasnt moved from 3rd. They used the same lefty specialist for years. They don't try to make season by season changes just to experiment. I like that philosophy. If it works with a player there, leave it. Don't change it in an attempt to make things better. The only situation I was alright with this was when the Tigers signed Prince. Obviously, they HAD to move miggy somewhere (not saying he's a good defensive 1st basemen, but it worked for them).

A little better decision making on who to experiment with would help. Schep had too many questions about his arm in the past to consider him as a starter. I think Nefty would have worked as a starter if they hadn't experimented with him as a reliever too early. Ogando simply fell apart and would have failed in either role. They need to let guys continue as starters until they prove they can't and quit moving them to the pen and then wondering later if they can start(Feliz and Ross).

It did work with CJ though.

I was gonna use this as an example of the one time its worked. You can easily make the argument that "neffy would have made a good starter." I mean I understand. His stuff is (edit: was) almost elite for this league. However, this guy set records as a closer. Closers arent easy to come by. If nefty had a career as a closer, would you guys think he would have been a disappointment? Moving him to a starter has changed his entire career guys. Even though his upside was seemingly limitless, why would you change a freakin KID who set records for his closing?

"I guess what I'm presupposing is, just because a condition is sufficient to achieve greatness does not mean that it is necessary" #LSATterms

In other words... sure. Nefty could have been a great starter. That definitely doesn't mean that we should have moved him from his, already proven greatness, as a closer.

I would have left him in AAA instead of bringing him up to put in the bullpen to begin with. Let him have his year in AAA developing his secondary pitches and then bring him up as a starter. Give him some time to prove himself and if he can't start then put him in the pen. Once he came up to be placed in the pen he quit working on secondary pitches.

I wonder what Bogar thinks of Magadan? I hope he's not fond of him.

BTW. HOU is beating OAK again. SEA could be only 1 back after tonight.

I know SEA is scared after seeing this juggernaut.

Glad they moved Rua out of the 5 hole and find it refreshing to see Odor moved up last night and in the 3 hole tonight. I know he is young but was tired of seeing him in the 8 hole with guys hitting in the 100's in front of him. Might as well move things around and see how it goes.
