The nfl invited him to the combine, they usually are pretty spot on with these guys.
Hes been shooting up draft boards. Initial projections as a 5-7 round pick.
Now there was talking he could go late round one or in round two?
Yet theres talk of bortles, manziel, bridgewater, carr falling?
where does he land in this mix..........

Savage is another solid prospect. Hard to imagine why nobody had him rated that high until the past month or so. Probably mainly because of his hiatus or whathaveyou from the sport after his injury in 2010 (switched schools a few times, then NCAA ruled that he was ineligible to play in '11). I listed a top 5 QB prospect in another thread a while back that had Savage in it. Not sure where I placed it but I think it was something along the lines of:

1. Bortles
2. Carr
3. Bridewater
4. Mettenberger
5. Savage

And before anyone goes all pro-manziel on my ass... I based my list on skill (more likely to succeed) over appeal.

I'm Not a Manziel Fan but i think he has what it takes to athletically to be a Stud and a possible HOF. His attitude is left less to be deisred

Actually...I'd take JM's attitude if he had a great pro skill set...he's a little immature, but not a bad kid...why some people thinks his game will translate to the NFL is baffling to me.

Idk that he's going to be an outright bust, but I don't see him being a 2nd contract player with whomever drafts him.

Couldn't agree with this more. Even Brandon Weeden could success at least 2 games out of the season. I can't wait to see who drafts him, because I could see it being a bit of a shocker. As we all know, the media produces a lot of smoke screens to what actually happens in the draft.

Don't get the Tom Savage love. He's definitely a pro prospect, but 2nd-3rd round seems insane to me.

Some people are just "all in" on Manziel...the hype has grown so large now that ONE of these teams in the top 10 are going to pull the trigger on him. I can see him having some success early until teams hone in on his speed/tendencies, etc.

But after that...I don't see enough in his game to be a starting NFL QB.

Well I'm not a Manziel fan at all, but how do rate his skills in comparison to Russel Wilson? I never thought Wilson and NFL QB, but here he is.

Coming out of the draft, Id say:

Pros to Wilson: Better Durability, Better Arm Strength, Better Leadership
Pros to Manziel: Better ability to read defenses, slightly better agility

Yeah, I guess my point is that they're aren't much different.

Wilson...I've made the mistake of making that comparison too. Stature is the only real comparison. Wilson came into the league as a 3rd round pick on a team with a lot of starting talent, basically just needing mistake free play from the QB.

RW's mental approach to the game imo is really why he's successful.

He's just trying to execute the play and if given time, he has enough talent to put the ball where the play dictates its should go...if the 1st couple of reads are covered, and time running out in the pocket, he can make a play with his legs. In other words, he's the last option to make a play.

Manziel's game reflects that of a QB constantly making plays, running and or throwing on the run. In CFB, it worked...I don't see him being this outstanding athlete to make it work at this level.
