Dallas Stars Official 2014 Offseason Thread

So we have 6.75 million left (assuming pevs is still on the payroll), and we have to sign Eakin, Dillon, Rouss, and hopefully somehow figure out a way to get a D man... The only conceivable way to do that would be to trade gonchar. Trade him to a team who is under the cap floor and pay 1.5 or 2 million if you have to. That give us around 10 mil. Rous is gonna have a Garbutt esque deal, probably a little less. So I'd say he'll get around 1.5. So really, with no further trades, we have 5.25 to give to Eakin and Dillon.

Trade Gonchar and/or Horcoff and get some salary back. I'd still like us to get a top 4 d man by the start of the season. Somehow, someway.

Nevermind, Nill said he's gonna build up the defense from within. So, as it stands:

Dillon-Benn

Gonchar-Oleksiak/Connauton

G- Lehtonen, Lindback, maybe Campbell later on

We have 7 million to give Eakin, Rouss, and Dillon. I still really want us to trade Gonchar because I think he's a liability back there. Maybe not to the extent that whitney was, but still a big one with a big contract. If we could trade him and somehow shed Pev's payroll we could easily get a top 4 D man.

Definitely buying a rouss jersey. He deserves every penny. He epitomizes what hockey is all about. Plays for the team and has everyone's backs. Even has a good snipe from time to time

I think I might get a Spezza jersey, provided they sign him to an extension. Everyone has either Seguin, Benn, or Lehtonen it seems. I got a Nichushkin home last year... think I might have to get the Spezza away this season.

How many jerseys do you guys have? I have a Modano and a Lehtinen from when they wore the green star outline jerseys, a Richards and a Robidas from the all black DALLAS set, and now I think I'm going for #2 in the new jerseys.

I also have a Hartford Whalers jersey, a Colorado Avalanche Sakic jersey from their inaugural season, a Chicago Blackhawks jersey from 1992, a Florida Panthers jersey (because my rec league team was the Panthers), and a Moscow Dynamo jersey.

I get my jerseys off craigslist because I can usually get authentic, stiched ones for about 40 bucks instead of the outrageous 200 or 250 that they usually go for. I've gotten all of my jerseys for under 50, so I just check craigslist like once a week to see if a Rouss jersey has been posted. I saw a victory green Benn jersey up there a month ago for like 60 bucks though.

I have a Green Modano, a Black "mooterus" Modano (remember those?) and a white Zubov. I don't have any of the plain black "DALLAS" reebok jerseys cuz I hated those. I also have a Blue Peter Bondra Caps jersey with the Eagle crest, along with the newer red Caps jerseys (Ovechkin). I love the Av's jerseys though. The white ones at least. I tend to like the white jerseys much more then the home colors for some reason. I just think the stiching looks really nice on a white base.

I'm always surprised just how many mooterus jerseys I still see fans wearing at the games.

I've got Modano home and road from the last version of the unis. I've order the 99 year jerseys for Mo, Lehtinen, and Hatcher.

I've got the new Benn home jersey and wanting to get another one but not sure what player yet.

Thanks man! On Fan Nation (where Heater and I were evicted from when they shut down the board) we were real few and real far between. I hung out with the hockey folks over there and they were great (and still are as most have found their way to the Hoop). But it was always amazing to me how little they knew about our heroes. I tooted the horn for Jamie Benn being on the Canadian national team going back to early last summer. They just didnt know his game. Safe to say - they do now and they all love the kid.

Im stoked for this season. Seriously stoked.

You can make a logical argument either way regarding Seguin... but I was just glad Benn had his shot to prove to them what his game consisted of.

I have a strong feeling... we are about to see his game go to another level. Having a legitimate second line added to his experience from the Olympics and last season's playoff appearance...
