Also in that article (yes I did read it) Sherman is making a ton of assumptions about the Eagles that he has no clue on. Yes there were rumors released about Jackson having Gang Ties but there is no evidence that he was released solely for this reason. The guy was being paid $10 million a year (#1 receiver money) yet was playing more like a #2. Throw in it is documented that this past season he started missing meetings and was showing up late to practice. He also is reported as butting heads with head coach Chip Kelly as he didn't like the quarterback change. Guess it doesn't matter to him that the team started actually winning and made the playoffs after they made the quarterback change.


So again Sherman is taking some major leaps in this article and bad mouthing an organization that has been known to give guys 2nd chances when nobody else would. I wouldn't say Sherman is accusing them of being racist just more him saying they are judging him by the people he hangs out with who just happen to be a bunch of black gang members. Again there is no evidence to suggest this is the reason or even one of the reasons the Eagles decided to let go of Jackson. So if anybody should be accused of slander in this situation it would be that of Sherman and the way he is speaking about the Eagles.

Let me ask you this

What kind of evidence do you expect to surface about the reasons why a person is released especially if it concerns this
particular issue.

No organization is going to allow such evidence to leak about this kind of stuff. So just because there isn't a written or recorded statement that absolutely incriminates the eagles, does not mean there isn't some truth to it.

All sherman is doing is defending jackson's character. Evidence didnt stop every media outlet to report about jackson's possible gang affiliation being linked to his release. Evidence didn't stop people from judging jackson's character and saying all the demeaning things that have been directed towards him.

Sherman makes a lot of valid points in his article about the double standards that exist yet you're here nitpicking about evidence.

This isn't the court of law. This is the real world where people get judged and their name gets smeared in the dirt whether there's evidence or not.

The Philadelphia Eagles apparently do not" in speaking about the Eagles cutting Jackson because of his ties to the Gang. You can't bad mouth the Eagles on an assumption but say I don't know this to be true and think that is ok. That is what we call Slander in the great USA. Saying something about somebody that you don't actually know to be true but trying to play it like it is.

I understand him defending his friend but he directly states that the eagles do not get it about friends not being a reflection of the player. So what would you call that then if not a shot at the eagles accusing them of releasing him because of his connections to gang members and murder trials. Again don't care about him supporting his friend good for him. Throwing the eagles under the bus doing the exact thing he is accusing the eagles of doing to his friend by making some big time leaps to conclusions that have no proof but some media people looking to bring about controversy.

What he said about the eagles: "if it's true.....", "the eagles apparently do not", and a brief discussion of Riley Cooper. The focus of the article is clearly one of defending Desean, not attacking anyone.

I wonder how much of this hate has to do with the fact that Richard Sherman said it? People dislike him so they miss the message because of the messanger. If the article had been written by well respected nice black guys like Champ Bailey or Larry Fitzgerald I bet more people would take notice of what the point was about. Since its Sherman some people begin reading the article with a predisposed bias against the writer and much of the topic is lost as a result.

Sherman is very well educated and has been hired by SI to write columns. I think he made some valid points which, by the way, have been echoed by other writers such as Pete Prisco but I don't see anyone piling on Prisco or others the way they are on Sherman. Bias does exist and we may not even be aware we are doing it. For example, I am a big Sherman fan so it could very well be that I am biased in favor of what he's written. Or he could just be right.

It's getting old. Same with Kap last season with the naked shit and the Dolphin hat issue. I wish they would just study and concentrate on football and stay out of the needy media spotlight. If this was another twitter feud then I would agree. But this is an issue that probably hits close to home to him especially since it involves a person he grew up with.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

I like that Sherman is vocal about this topic. Racism and double standards exist and a lot of times these issues get swept under the rug.

And it's not like he's saying anything outlandish. He brings up good points every time he speaks.

This implies mental weakness. He need's the "hatahs" to motivate himself. I don't think that's the case with Sherman. I think he has an obsessive need to be noticed and respected. I just get tired of the racial slant he's always spinning. Otherwise I like the guy. He's entertaining.
