Hard to even put into words how much I hope you're wrong. Cespedes for Porcello would be a huge mistake.

I would think the Tigers would want a reliever back as well as Cespedes isn't equal to Porcello. Better to get a guy that makes a difference rather than settle for a draft pick later.

Are you talking about Cespeses leaving after being traded for? Neither he nor Rick are under contract after 2015. And we wouldn't even get a pick if Cespedes were to leave.

I really don't see the point of this hypothetical deal at all.

Actually to provide some info as to why Cespedes has not been traded. His contract stipulates he can not be offered the qualifying so any team having the Cuban slugger will not be getting a draft pick. One of the reasons the Red Sox have not moved him yet.

Cespedes and a reliever for porcello.

I think neither will be on the Tigers in 2016.

I just don't see how we could compete with a pitching staff that is 40% Lobstein and Green. Especially with Sanchez being not exactly being an innings eater. The bullpen would get taxed, atleast it'd seem like it.

If Max is resigned, Id feel a lot less angry about Rick being dealt. But I think he's the only guy in the rotation with upside. And I think they could do a lot better than Cespedes.

You'd rather have Shields and no pick, than Ricky and our first rounder?

Maybe Im overvaluing Kid Rick. But Im good with him. Shields sucked a lot when it mattered. (Not like Rick pitches when it matters, but I think they're going in different directions.)

IMO it all hinges on the tigers getting Max back or Shields.

Detroit has always been really high on Shields. I can't see the Tigers getting close to the 200 million Boras is looking for.

Detroit's OF is garbage right now. Gose/Davis, Martinez, and and and

If they are thinking Moya thy better have a plan B as I think he will need another year and I have serious doubts any other Detroit Farmhand is better than a platoon option.

The LF upgrade is decent and all but that .260 avg has to be a concern. If Cespedes can hit closer to .280 while knocking out 20-25 HRs, and this bush league pitcher to be named develops, then it was worth it. Porcello's best days are still ahead of him...

Yeah, Yoenis' OBP is puke, but he does provide power, speed, and is a good defensive outfielder. Hate to lose Porcello before he's reached what could be his best years as a pitcher (ages 26-30).

RP Alex Wilson had good numbers in limited duty last season. I like that he only walked 5 batters in 28.1 innings. But he's 28 and hasn't spent a lot of time in the majors, which makes you wonder.

I wonder if Ausmus might be thinking J.D. Martinez in LF and Cespedes in RF. Yoenis has a better arm.
