i think that t-shirt needs to keep his posting of pics ,tweets and supporting material down to a bare minimum

And I think we've told him to do that, right? Here's the issue for me... What he's been doing isn't breaking any rules, it just annoys some people. I personally don't understand the annoyance and actually like the majority of what he posts. Again... The major issue here is that everything is within the few rules that we have. I hope he just tames it down a touch so that we can all feel decent about addressing the issue without anyone being banned or restricted.

Maybe I'm missing something on tshirt.... You guys are talking about "spamming re-tweets".. My definition of no-no spamming on here is posting something that promotes yourself. Is he promoting something for his own gain? I haven't seen anything like that.

Its not spamming in the truest sense of the word, in that it isn't blatantly promoting anything (except tshirt's post count) but it resembles the spam of yesteryear, prior to the days of email filters where the problem wasn't that it was advertising so much as it was just unwanted, unneeded, extraneous crap that made it hard to get to the stuff you were actually looking for.

This page is a perfect example:

http://www.sportshoopla.com/forums/...scussion/108669-acc-basketball-thread-25.html

18 out of 20 posts on that page belong to tshirt. All blasted out rapid-fire style. Nothing even attempting to interact with another human being.

I do too, when it's not 40 straight pics, tweets or cut-n-pastes that we could find on our own if we cared.

tshirt, we like you, man but you gotta stop. Remember, I already asked you once. Bring your A game and you're a great poster. The other stuff has got to stop.
I really liked his posts on the bowl game threads! It was pretty good pre game stuff!

I'll admit I haven't seen any of the spam shit the OP is talking about.

I have no prob with t-shirt and was never one for just banning people who past crap I don't like. He can post some informative posts.

I have had my fair share of haters and posting miscues too.
You don't say? :laugh3:

Yeah, I really don't think it's classified as self-promoting spam, per se. I think it's just shot-gun blasts of information that completely bogs down the board. So like on the ESPN boards there was the spam that tried to get people to join betting sites, and then there was the shit where people just posted like 10000 smiley faces over and over. I don't know if that is true spamming, or just so fucking annoying. All it tried to do was completely disable the baord.

As far as tshirt, I think it's more (for me anyway), that if I want to know what Coach K said, or what people on some ISU forum, or how the press is respecting Cincinnati, I will go look that shit up. I don't need 37 consecutive posts that copy and past absolutely everything that has been written on a topic, splattered all over a board that I am trying have a conversation on. I'm sure I can work google well enough that I can find the information if I want it.

And the truth is, I don't know if tshirt says some pretty useful shit sometimes, only because all I've seen are the shit tons of copy and pasting all over boards. So I can't speak to that. But if he used information in context, or to support an argument (where the argument is not simply the information, but rather, it is the analysis of the information which is the argument), then I don't have a problem at all with him.

I just want to talk CBB.

My suggestion is to put him on ignore then. People don't quote those posts, they just read them. It's the same as reporting something as spam I suppose. It will be hidden from your feed going forward but not other's.

It's not even that he needs to keep it to a bare minimum. I don't mind a moderate amount of posting that stuff if in the right venue. What on earth is the justification for posting 150 tweets from people random people about a game in progress in a conference thread? Put it in a game thread, and I don't think anybody cares.

He wants to post 4 or 5 pics about a team? Great! Put 'em all in one post instead of 5 consecutive posts. Same with links. He started the thread about Texas beating consecutive ranked teams, that was fine. Let him fill that with as many links and pics and tweets as his little heart desires.

The problem arises when he hijacks existing threads where people are already having a conversation, and he either kills it by overwhelming the thread with noise, or tries to steer it to a different topic, which I would also be okay with if he was actually willing to discuss said topic, but instead of trying to provide any insight, he just "borrows" other people's insight.

Wasn't it tshirt that posted the "squaw booty" during the Auburn-Florida State game? If so, that dude deserves nothing but praise.

i agree, and since I didn't know how to do that I am probably to blame for starting this thread. Tshirt, I apologize for that. Also, I can't say that I will miss a single thing from your posts because since you came to the CBB forums you haven't made a single observation, simply posted news articles and tweets. Where in the HELL do you have time to look all that bullshit up, anyway?

Since that is resolved, how in the hell is John0 still a member of this board. Not one person has supported him and everyone agrees (mods included, from what I have seen on this thread) he ruins every thread he ends up on. I don't really want to call out the guys that make decisions on who stays and who goes, but unless somebody is going to add you to a lawsuit for unjustly kicking somebody off of an internet message board there would appear to be 0 reasons to keep that fucker here.

Can't argue with this... If you read this, tshirt, make sure this stuff does/doesn't happen. That shouldn't be too hard.

I already have him on ignore. That happened long before this thread was created. And while it does help, it doesn't really solve the bigger problem that his posting (especially in the wrong venue) actually hinders real discussion. That's what I came here for is to talk basketball. Not read about it.

Also keep in mind, I'm not pulling for anyone to be banned. (yes, I talk about john0 getting the boot, but that's a prediction, not a request. It's like betting on the sun coming up tomorrow morning) And I understand as mods you guys are in a tough spot since he isn't technically breaking any rules. I've been a mod a decent sized site before, so I know the headaches. Since there are people that seem to like some of his posts, I think the best solution for the tshirt issue, is to get him to stop the stuff that almost no one cares for. And I see you guys have asked him to reign that in, and I (we) thank you for that. Hopefully the situation is already resolved.

trolly what do the words bare minimum mean to you ? seams to me that you just want t-shirt gone period ..

I don't want him gone. It isn't anything personal. I just want the thread "spamming" (see above loose definition of spamming) to get reigned in. Seems there are several people now claiming that tshirt posts some good stuff, and I have no reason not to believe then, but I'll also point out that several of those folks don't seem to be regulars on the CBB forum, so I suspect that means tshirt's prime work hasn't been on display here yet. I'm happy to give him a chance to post some good stuff, and if he stops emptying the clip every time he posts, I'll take him off ignore to see what everybody is talking about.

And if he keeps doing what he's doing, I'll keep him on ignore, keep making fun of him, and keep complaining about it. Either one is fine with me. I just think the former is a much better solution than the latter.

If this shit isn't trolling, then I don't know what is.

John, NO ONE agrees with you. This is where you always get wrapped around the axle. Not even other SU fans back you up, because this is the stupidest shit that is written on this site. It's completely agreed upon that the Carrier Dome is one of the premier homecourts in all of CBB. Just because you say it isn't (even when they have a 25k turnout), doesn't change that. It just makes you a fucking troll.

If the court was in the middle of the football field, then you would be correct. But the court is blocked off to one half, by giant grandstands, and the overwhelming majority of noise stays inside where the court is. Everyone knows that you are just saying this shit so that you can try to cancel out that SU has such a cupcake non con schedule. No one agrees with you. Anyone who knows CBB knows that when you walk into the Carrier Dome and there are over 25k screaming SU fans, that you are at one of the best homecourts in CBB. No one takes you seriously, because you make some of the most ridiculous claims possible, and then you actually believe you're right. You are so far down the rabbit hole that you don't even know you're there. You actually believe your own bullshit, and so you refuse to accept reality. No one comes to your defense on this shit. So it's either everyone (every other SU fan, CBB announcers, the press, and all CBB fans) are somehow missing what only you are so enlightened to see, or, you are so full of shit that you further choke on it with every post.

do those look like "giant" grandstands to you.

and heres where i am confused. you keep citing the media & the press but how often is cuse ever cited for being one of the loudest places? Google loudest cbb arena/stadiums (whatever) and the dome doesn't get a lot of press. cameron, rupp, allen, & the pit show up. the only time the carrier dome ever gets mentioned is when it breaks 30k or when people cite it for its unique setup. There is a reason why other BB/FB schools don't follow cuse's setup, or why cuse fans gloated over rumors of a BB only arena last year. the dome is nice and I would hate to seeus have a regular arena like everyone else. but the truth is that the dome does not give as big of a home court advantage as you guys think. louisville & pitt sure had their way with us in the dome the last couple of year.

john0 will eventually be banned here. He can't help himself. Just do a quick google search on his username. He's been banned on pretty much every forum he's ever joined.

OP is "original post"... What I'm rolling my eyes about is that the main topic of the thread is about restricting tshirt and then JohnO comes flying in and ends up making it about him. It's fucking puzzling...

Then...just wait for it.... the ignorance play will come from him... "what did I do?"

well think about it. there were about 3-4 different references to me in the thread already (without me even posting)

I don't derail threads other people (literally) can't handle me. which is funny cuz i don't even do anything that bad. 99% of the problem is guys like DC zona who is consistently calling for me to be banned. if catstopac wants to call me out fine. But look at how trolly & co reacted to it. If you wanna talk about derailing threads check out the BS they always pull with me. Anytime i make a legitimate non troll, non flaming post (which believe it or not I am capable of) they feel the need to go around busting my balls on it. I can't even make a poll prediction or comment on the acc thread without trolly resorting to personal insults.

hey everything I say is true. Unless the dome is packing 30k+ on most days the noise levels are not anything atypical of your standard arena. why? because the dome is 4x higher and 10X wider than most arena's. then everyone blames cuse for not traveling enough but guess what? wether it is boston, maimi, atlantic city or freaking north carolina we get a decent fan showing. why? because we are the largest FBS private school on the east coast.

you guys love bashing cuse but are oblivious to even the simplest of logic.

Honestly, I don't think anyone even considered 'Cuse on this board, until you started drawing negative attention to them. Thank God for good fans like Jonvi.

only been banned from one forum (and it expires in a few days)

wasn't even for a sports posts but a political quote I posted (had to do with nixon). not gonna mention the name but at that place they run a very tight ship and half of the posters here would have to undergo a bit of an attitude readjustment because they have a much lower tolerance level for swearing, spams, off-topic, and even shut down threads if people argue for to long on a pointless topic. pretty much every thread here would be shut down under their rules.

so i don't see a temporay banning there as a big deal considering how strict they are.
