I was a *little* surprised to hear that not a single team that won the WS in the last 25 years made the last out. I know it's uncommon, but 25 years, c'mon !!

The "stat" turns out to be false. The winner of the 2001 WS (D-backs) was the team that made the final out of the 2001 world series.

It is rather uncommon since you have to be the winner of the series, playing the last game in your home park, and win the game with a walkoff hit (after making at least one out in that half of the inning).

The team that won Game 3 of this year's series also made the final out of the game (a walk-off, but it wasn't a hit; it was a fielder's choice, and obstruction).

Gawd (especially after yesterday) I CAN'T WAIT for baseball season again. Watching that gave me all the warm fuzzies again.
